Once again throughout this year we have had a multitude of interesting Classic Film related thread topics, in response, our friendly discourse has produced a wealth of fascinating information, reviews and film recommendations. Have you a favourite or a not so favourite film that was discovered through thread topic discussions, recommended or found with further research ? .. On the thread... Turning 100 , our good friend teleadm mentioned a couple of Swedish films from 1918. I was most interested especially in the film from Mauritz Stiller who I learnt was a pioneer of the Swedish film industry, and further I discovered, and was somewhat surprised that Stiller had directed a controversial for its time, highly influential romantic comedy Erotikon (1920). Out of print but still available from the other side of the world, the Kino release arrived here yesterday and we watched it last night. WOW what a wonderful Swedish silent film it is, innovative, glorious sets and scenes, scandalous, great performances, great entertainment... Many Thanks to you teleadm !!

Although I didn’t begin my journey through the 14 Rathbone/Bruce Sherlock Holmes films (all reviewed on the weekly threads over the course of a month or so) until this fall, the germ was planted by a thread in the summer started by Lebowskidoo 🦞 on What are the best Sherlock Holmes movies? The discussion there with contributions from the O.P., Nalkarj , teleadm , marshamae , and others made me finally go ahead on my trip (two of the final three films actually took place during a trip, a passenger ship and a train). Thanks to everyone who joined in the fun back in July.

Hi Planet X, on " Have you a favourite or a not so favourite film that was discovered through thread topic discussions, recommended or found with further research ? .." the title which has to be at the very top of my list is The Ghost Cat of Otama Pond (1960). After starting to take more of an interest in cinema from Asia, your recs from Cat onward have shown me (some) of the very best movies from the region.

Maybe not any actual movies, but movies I might have missunderstood, have somehow helped me while reading others reviews, I might not always agree, but that is the dynamics of this "room", disagreeing without beeing nasty. The French and Japanese threads have helped a lot. I wish I had the money to buy all the goodies recomended. Nearly all threads are always interesting! Thanks all partisipants! Thanks to manfromplanetx for mentioning my name twice! I'm sure you would have found Erotikon 1920 anyway, I just speeded it up a little bit.

Hi there MDF With you having such an extraordinary range of viewing, rating Ghost Cat so highly I think says a lot for the wonders of Classic Cinematic art. I must thank you for all your interest & feedback. And I must say I always enjoy your terrific reviews and those out there "new school" recommendations, film that I would never come across myself. I was inspired to check out some Takashi Miike films following your post a while back and have a few films to watch these holidays, among them , Blues Harp, Bird People in China and Audition . All the Best For the New Year...
