Got my first kid coming in May. I'm trying to convince my wife to use a comic-inspired name. So far my suggestions were Gotham for a boy, Thorin for a girl. She liked Kal-el for a boy but we already have a friend who did that. Any suggestions?

No, for God's sake. I do not want to become the laughingstock of the people.

Call him Donald-Blake + your last name. Not too obvious and subtle enough for those in the know.

Nah I'd never do that a child.
I love Dragon Ball but I'd never call my son Frieza or Piccolo (or would I...)
I might like these superhero movies but I'd find it selfish to name a child after something like that and have them risk being made fun of and attached to a name they don't like just because I happen to be a fan of something.
I'd do that maybe with a dog but not a child.

Congrats, man!
There are tons of ways you can do it, Ranging from obvious to subtle. I think one of the best is Harley Quinn Smith.
Leela (futurama) was on the short list for one of my daughters.

Me and the ex had a pregnancy scare once. (Neither of us wanted kids, but she couldn't remember to take her pills for shit in the beginning. I told her that's what the sugar pills in the packs are for, but she would skip those and sometimes forget to take the first actual pill.) I had her convinced for Vassago Daemon for a boy and Lilith Nyx for a girl. We would've called it by their middle name. I go by my middle and so does she. Not exactly superhero names mind you, just thought I'd share.

As a side note my Southern Baptist Family were hoping for a false pregnancy after they heard the names.

I named my daughter after the witch from Dark Shadows.
Not her usual name. She used several.
But Gotham is funky. Its a city
Pick a name that can be shortened Your son would be Goth. Your daughter would be Thor. You ready for that?

First off, congrats!
Second, to name a child, think of your last name first and say your child's name plus your last name to see how good that name fits your last name.
Third, honestly, not a superhero's name, but plenty of aliases to choose from, like Peter, or Bruce, or Tony, or if it's a girl, Natasha, or Diana, or Carol.

It doesn't look like I'm going to get my way anyway but thought it would make a nice discussion.

Like justanaveragejoe said, just name him/her after one of their real names. It’s a lot more subtle and saves getting your kids from being picked on at school (no hard feelings).

Congratulations!
I've always said that if I had a son I would name him Wade (first name) Wilson (middle)
Never picked out a name for a girl tho.

If you can't decide on a Comic Book name you could at least make it alliterate to your last name.

Congratulations, on your new addition to the family.
Isn't the female variant of Thor, Thora?
True story; a friend of friend of a friend named his fraternal twins Barta and Scott.

Worked with a dude who's name was John June. He named is daughter April May. I think I'd punch my Parents in the throat if that was done to me.
