Richard Donner's cameo is still present (when Clark and Lois drive up to the diner)
Did Clark and Lois just walk from the Fortress of Solitude after they canoodle? Speaking of which, how does Clark not freeze to death when making the long walk back?
Why do the three Kryptonian villains have different powers over Superman? Zod is seen levitating someone and even uses this to bring that shotgun towards him.
Keep in mind, any footage featuring Gene Hackman, Ned Beatty, or Valerie Perrine was shot by Donner. Also, it's obvious when a stand in is used for Hackman.
The opening scene and credits provide a full recap of the first movie, but Marlon Brando is noticeably absent.
Superman fighting Zod and Co. is always fun. What's hilarious is when the citizens try themselves to fight the bad guys, you can hear one of them say "Yeah, I know some Judo!". Also like when we mostly hear Non and Superman fighting underground.
Superman snaps Zod's neck and everyone clutches their pearls. Superman tosses a superpower free Zod into an abyss and we cheer.

There's a deleted scene, probably available on YouTube, showing Zod and Co. arrested by Arctic police instead of you know.. actually dying. Yeah, not everything shot by Donner was gold.

Superman II is such an enjoyable experience, the few "mistakes" are easily forgiven. The entire movie "Man of Steel" is a cringeworthy unforgivable disaster.

Trying to keep track of Kryptonian powers in the Reeve movies is only going to hurt your brain. Reversing time by spinning the world backwards, roofie kisses, rebuilding walls by looking at them...
The Cavill movies kept it simple and consistent, so that's one point I'll give them.
I haven't seen the theatrical cut of SII in at least a decade.

I haven't seen the theatrical cut of SII in at least a decade. Yeah, I often just watch the Donner Cut. While remaining an incomplete movie, the inclusion of the Brando footage is invaluable. Someone with time on their hands should fuse together a version that combines the best elements of both. Neither film is perfect but both have their advantages as well.

I think there's like a dozen on fanedit.org, but I haven't watched them.

Someone with time on their hands should fuse together a version that combines the best elements of both. Neither film is perfect but both have their advantages as well. This I strongly agree with. I recently saw the Donner cut for the first time, and there were some things about it I liked and other things I didn't like. The Brando footage is a definite plus. I also liked the extra footage of Lex Luthor dealing with the evil trio; it was amusing seeing Ursa wanting to kill Luthor so bad she can taste it. But I don't think it was a good idea to use the "reversing time by spinning around the world" plot device again. And from the theatrical cut, I enjoyed the Paris sequence and the scenes with the trio's confrontations with with the hayseed locals, all of which are gone in the Donner cut. So a version combining the best of both is a fabulous idea.

Am I the only one who noticed that the Donner cut seemed to have alternate takes/line deliveries from the actors compared to the theatrical cut?

I liked some of the new Brando stuff BUT I think having his mother talk to him about losing his power worked much better. Brando's floating head just doesn't cut it.
"Would you care to step outside?" That was one of the changes wasn't it? I prefer the theatrical version of that.
The guy talking in the phone booth was stupid during the super breath destruction but I liked it.
It seems John Ratzenberger spent a few years in England at that time.
He was in Superman 1 and 2, Warlords of Atlantis, The Empire Strikes Back... In the case of Atlantis, he appears with the same guy who plays the NASA controller.
