alice (Czech) stop-motion animated version of alice in wonderland - with an emphasis on the grotesque.
brain damage Inventive Frank Hennenlotter horror comedy, a sort of drug addiction allegory.
the chocolate war high school film; a darker side of dead poets society.
cop detective James Woods in pursuit of L.A. serial killer
grave of the fireflies (Japan) proof of the emotional power of animation.
midnight run
a short film about killing (Poland) thou shall not kill. Cold and distant.
soursweet (UK) overlooked British immigrant drama from director Mike Newell.
tucker: the man and his dreams F.F. Coppola movie is an entertaining recreation of 1950s America, with Jeff Bridges as car designer.
zelly and me not quite the domestic nanny film it first appears to be. Isabella Rossellini is the nanny (real life partner David Lynch appears as well).
