3rd Year (out the first with an injury)
Yesterday Simmons hit the longest 'jumper' of his career - a '22 footer or so' - it was a desperation shot to beat the shot clock.
Simmons is a magician and a wizard with the ball in his hands at times. A triple double on most nights isn't shocking - even if those number are 12-11-10 - however seems to cripple the team in the halfcourt game - Sixers made their comeback and went up yesterday with 3rd String PG TJ McConnell in the game.
Problem is Markelle Fultz was drafted to 'run' next to him as a 'Combo Guard' who could shoot and also handle the ball when it was out of Simmons hands.
3 years into the league - Simmons has not worked on his shot - never shoot from outside the paint and is still a horrific free throw shooter. Teams like the Celtics sag off on him on defense because they know he won't shoot and in turn double Embiid down low (pretty much what happened the end of the game yesterday and the playoff series last year).
NBA fans - do you in turn make a trade for a traditional PG - and stick Simmons at the '4' (where the Sixers are weak) - or hope (rumored) Fultz is coming back this year and recovers from TOS.
Sixers appear to be a 'good' team - bench is abysmal - but the way they're currently constructed - I can't see them beating the Celts, Raps, Pacers or Bucks in the playoffs.
Interesting trade scenarios floating around of Simmons, the 2021 Miami First rounder, Fultz, and filler for Anthony Davis, Jrue Holiday if the Pels think AD is gone after this year and want to get anything for him.

I’d lose patience with the whole lot them. Philly shit the bed against Boston last night due to dumb turnovers and the inability to run a fucking play. The process rolls on.

They pretty much did the same thing in the playoff series against the Celts last year. Can't close out games - which is what they got Butler for. Ashame Redick didn't nail that jumper at the end of the game - otherwise there may be a different take on the game/series/year - but it's a disturbing pattern they can't close out against the Celts. Embiid has voiced his frustration over the last couple of weeks which I find rather alarming/concerning/disheartening. He's an unstoppable monster and it seems his frustration is growing - which is a concern. They need a 'gunner' on the outside besides Redick who can also run the Point (which is what Fultz was drafted for) - curious to see what the Buyout Period/Trade Deadline brings/and if Fultz comes back - agent has stated he'll return and has made progress with his TOS with Kobe Bryant's personal trainer.

Jesus you are as dumb as ESPN. Simmons is a tremendous talent who is 22 and in his second season. Embiid is 24 and essentially in his second full season. The team is actually ahead of schedule right now. Simmons numbers have improved dramatically since Butler has gotten there. He is averaging a near triple double with 19 points a game since the Butler arrival. The Sixers, statistically, have the best starting lineup in the entire NBA. It is their bench and extremely poor coaching decisions that are losing these games. Not to mention that every tough opponent they have faced this year, for the most part, has been on the road. Let's see how the Cs do when they visit Philly. Philly has the best home record in the entire NBA.

Yes, please trade Simmons to the Western conference. Embiid while you're at it. Trust the process.

Not gonna be able to spell F.E.D.S. anymore. Well the D is gone and the F might as well be. We now have Butler, Embiid, Simmons, and... McConnell? Redick? Look out NBA, here comes BERMS!

The Sixers played a great game in Boston. They just lost because, well, Kyrie does what he does and the Celtics put a serious clampdown on defense when it mattered the most, which is what the Celtics do.
The Sixers are real good, you don't need to break the team down every time you have a tough loss. It's the NBA, everybody has tough losses.

I don’t get this complaining that the fans and media make about Simmons and his shooting. I don’t care if he can’t shoot from behind the arc. He scores at will when he needs to. If he wanted to score 25 a night, he could do so easily.
Talent wise, Simmons is top 5 right now. The only thing holding him back from getting that recognition is that he only attempts 8-12 shots a night.

Aren't you the jackass that predicted the Sixers would win the East and were the better team than Boston? What planet do you live on? Did you even watch the playoff series last year or the Christmas Game? They are not currently constructed to beat this team - or the Bucks, Raptors and I'd argue Pacers right now. Did you bother to read my initial post dicklick or are you too busy patting yourself on the back for being the most 'knowledgeable' basketball poster on this board? Hey Chief. I'm the last to point out misspellings, bad pronunciation and such as I'm a trainwreck at times; however in your post about the Top 5 position basketball players off all time you listed 'Julius Irving'. Who the f*ck is this? Kyrie Irving's sidekick in Unlce Drew? An easy miscue yes - however for being a 'Sixers Fan' and most knowledgeable basketball pos(t)er on this board - this is rather embarrassing and like a Phillies fan misspelling Roy Halladay for Matt Holiday. Ben Simmons is a generational talent. What the Sixers are missing is another 3&D Wing and a true PG in todays game (notice I said today's game - not 20 years ago) who is able to pop a pull up jumper at times. This situation can easily be fixed with surrounding Simmons with more shooters (i.e. like they did with Beli and Ily last year) or a combo guard who can handle the ball at times and also shoot. They have none of that currently constructed. It can also be fixed with Simmons 'willing' to take a pull up jumper at times - which he refuses to do. It would draw defense as opposed to teams sagging off him - especially late in the game when it comes down to crunch time and the game changes to a 'halfcourt game'. 'You're as dumb as ESPN'. Yes - basketball gurus such as Bill Simmons who have also posed this same question are 'dumb'. And I guess ESPN and Fox broadcasters are 'dumb' and should bow to basketball guru DSDSquared posting on IMDBv2.0 who is a Sixers fan but doesn't know Kyrie Irving from Julius Erving But I guess you think the Sixers will still win the East as currently constructed - and just because the Sixers have a better record than the Celts currently that that means they are better than the Celts. Me DSDSquared - me see things in Black and White. Sixers better record than Celtics! Which obviously means they are the better team! Triple Doubles Good! Who cares if it's 10-10-10! Me see things in Black & White! Who cares if your 'PG' refuses to shoot outside of the paint - we sill live in 1988! Fire Bad! Water Good! And Dipshit? This is his 3rd year - don't sell me that horseshit the 1st doesn't 'count' because the Sixers 'chose' to sit him out.

You want Simmons traded. I say that is dumb. Do not try to back track and bring up other posts. I have forgotten more about basketball than you will ever know. Most of the time people do not even take you seriously on here considering you spend half the time acting like an idiot. I think it is on purpose, but it is hard to tell on a message board. I NEVER said the Sixers would win the East. NEVER. In fact, I said that the Sixers would finish with the better record than Boston, but lose to them in the playoffs. That was my EXACT prediction and it looks like, at this point at least, that I will be correct. Also, yes, ESPN is dumb. It is like the CNN of sports. If you know very little about sports and you want to watch the channel to get general knowledge and entertainment, then great. However, if you are a knowledgeable sports fan who watches games every day then you would know that ESPN is very basic and 99% of their talking heads know very little about sports. I learn nothing new from ESPN ever. Seriously. I actually agree with your assessment on getting more depth to surround Simmons with. I have been saying this from the beginning. That is not what you are saying in your posts though until now. You bash Simmons and call for him to be moved. That is completely different than Brand picking up some new players before the deadline to help the team out. Stick to your guns. Do not try and change your opinion in the middle of a thread where you sadly attempt to bash me. I have watched all 82 Sixers games every year for the past few decades. I live and breath this team. Also, this is his second year, not his third. Stop making crap up. The NBA has him as a Sophomore. That is what he is. You cannot just make shit up to try and make your point.

Cris Carter, Chris Broussard, and Nick Wright seem to agree with you.
4:38 to 8:48 They believe 76ers will disappoint again.

Cris Carter, in particular, was very severe on Simmons. I am myself on the fence and even though I thought very highly of him at a point of time I do have to see him do something exceptional to be assured. As of now, I have no opinion on Simmons.

But apparently ESPN, CNN and I'm guessing 'Fox' are 'dumb'. I'm not asking for Simmons to be traded. I'm asking for the team to surround him with more shooters (like Beli and Ily last year) - or make a trade for a traditional PG and stick Simmons at the '4' where he can be a quasi 'Point Forward'. I'm also asking for him to please at least attempt a few mid range jumpers a game - which he refuses to shoot. Defenders just sag off him. When it comes down to the final :10 seconds of the game - he's utterly useless with his horrible turnovers with the ball in his hands when the game slows down. If you want to stick him at the '4' in case of a last second shot miss and putback fine - but he is '0' threat to attempt a jumper and defenders dare him too. This team is basically Embiid, Simmons, Butler and Redick - and then hot garbage.
