Since Aquaman got snubbed from getting a Best Visual Effects Oscar nomination, while Black Panther is currently a front runner, I decided to go ahead and ask this question here. It’s Wakanda vs Atlantis. Rhinos vs sharks and crab people. Which film takes this, in your opinion?

Black Panther has the best CGI I've ever seen in a film. Not that I care about that sort of thing.

It did snubbed? That's a shame. It's Godzilla (2014) and Pacific Rim (2013) all over again.

we know the answer. again this is when awards become worthless. They've always been worthless as long as individual opinions exist, dum dum. When's that going to sink in summers8?

BP
Aquaman had moments when it looks great, but also many moments where it looks straight out of the prequels

BP Aquaman had moments when it looks great, but also many moments where it looks straight out of the prequels BP from a dumb mcu fan boy point.
aquaman from a fair film artistic point.
thankfully that seems to be the opinions of all.

Yep, those that hate MCU are desperate to overrate a DCEU flick that it's not garbage. You make it feel like the second coming even tho it's barely fresh, and the average score is 6.0. Which seems to be the golden standard for DCEU if you take Wonder Woman out of the ecuation. The final battle in the movie is Attack of the Clones CGI-wise

those that like mcu like you have to lie and live in denial all the time to defend the mcu.
um, I dont use RT. though I think no one uses it anymore minis mcu fanatics who have no card left to play. what a joke
this thread is about visual effect. the fact is black panther is worse. the facts dont lie. sorry

Yeah, that scene is bad CGI- wise in BP, not gonna lie. But there are scenes like that in Aquaman , of course you will ignore those. Also, what card left to play as an MCU- fan? it's not like the general opinion is that DCEU is better than MCU in any compartiment.

black panther overall had more weaker cgi scenes than aquaman. even Infinity war is as awful the scene with iron man, spiderman at the beginning. awful. looks like a game. not as good to look at like say planet of the apes of last year or blade runner.
as said, those that hate mcu, we back it up by film artistry. we dont hate just for hating.

i take it even Justice League is a major artistic achivement better than anything in the MCU, right?

I haven't watched Aquaman yet, so can't really say. I do know that Black Panther had some really bad CGI shots (especially the end fight)
The stuff I've seen so far for Aquaman hasn't exactly been great, but I will reserve full judgement on it till I actually watch the film.

About the same. I really don't pay attention to the CGI when I watch a movie. The only time it becomes a factor is when it is really atrocious like in an Asylum film.

EDIT:
I guess we're NOT just making shit up now!
I've been corrected and it appears that Aquaman was disqualified for some reason? If this is true that's too bad because it was well done in that regard.

I have not seen Aquaman yet, but someone on here actually said that Black Panther had the best CGI they have ever seen? Wow!!! I guess that is the only movie they have ever seen. For a franchise that normally has some of the best CGI ever put on film, Black Panther was not very well done in that department.

Nah, guy is right I think. They would not admit it to the final qualification round because some technicality; Grace Randolf reported and was upset. Same with the nice "Solo" Score, filed after deadline, not admitted. That being said, Aquaman has the most beautiful visuals, color compositions and VFX since Avatar. It looks amazing if you can stomach the CGI. This is a film's made for the modern silver screen like classics such as Lawrence of Arabia back then.

Actually, barring the rhinos and the end fight between the two panthers, BP did have some very good looking visuals. It's visually one of the most stunning MCU movies. I feel like people in this board are just constantly downplaying it to counter the excessive praise it received from the critics. Still, I have to give the nod to Aquaman. At this point I think it's probably the most visually stunning cbm we've had.

Iron Man 3 and Infinity War come to mind first for me. I felt both had much better visual effects than Black Panther.
