He witnessed the brutal murder of his mother when he was about 4 years old. He was bathed in her blood.
This is the explanation given for the fact that he needs to kill. You never hear him express his feelings about it, but anger probably figures in. He only kills people he thinks deserve it. |

Quit watching right after the season four finale. Trust me. Dexter will go down as one of your top ten to fifteen shows of all time if you stop there. The show is genius and ends so well. I know you will not follow my advice. You will inevitably keep watching and slowly start to hate the show and eventually wish you listened to me. I cannot think of another show that fell so hard. From Season Five on the show started to honestly suck. The final two seasons were abysmal. |

Amazing show. My favorite of all time. I wish I could go back and watch it all for the first time. There’s nothing like watching a new episode of Dexter.

Have fun watching . After season 4 it goes way down hill though . But the first 4 seasons are great entertainment (esp season 4)
