Yeah, Mortenson and Cooper seem like the favorites. Of course, Rami Malek or John David Washington might be wildcards. I feel like they're gonna make it a "swan song" for actors like Redford and Eastwood though.

Rami Malek. Ethan Hawke was my winner until I saw Rami's performance. They'll probably give the Oscar to Cooper though because he'll likely be up for 3 nominations (as director, actor, and producer).

Hawke is taking a big majority of the Critics' awards but didn't land nominations for either the Golden Globes or SAG, so Oscar is probably out, too. He is, at the moment, my personal awardee.

I feel like it's gonna be a race between A Star is Born and The Favourite. I would say that The Favourite is not going to figure into the equation. It's probably going to win best original screenplay and costume design. The race right now stands as Roma vs A Star Is Born. However, I strongly suspect that the shocker is going to be that BlacKkKlansman will emerge as the frontrunner. It's got all the elements it needs to win: legendary director famously snubbed by the Oscars, political/racial subject matter. I read somewhere that the Golden Globes are seriously considering giving Spike Lee the award for best director. The Globes will take place next weekend, so by then we'll get a better idea of where the whole awards race stands.

um The Favorite has won plenty of awards where and when it counts, it stand a better chance then Roma right now. What has it won? None of the precursors have awarded anything. And by the way it didn't get a nomination for Best Ensemble at the SAG awards, which is odd considering that there are three noted performances in it.

All three women stars have individual nominations from both the Golden Globes and SAG. The New York Film Critics Online choose it as Best Ensemble and the movie as one of their Top 10. Also Ensemble from the Gotham Independent Film Awards. The Los Angeles Film Critics and the Toronto Film Critics have named Olivia Colman as Best Actress. Colman was named Best Supporting(!) Actress by the Chicago Film Critics Assoc. So, on the acting front, anyway, there seems to be momentum building. Whether it turns into actual wins, of course, remains to be seen.

Also SAG, BAFTA, and the Globes aint aired yet. You really think the Favourite isnt the favorite to win best picture?( no pun intended).

Also more notable A Star is Born missed screenplay which is actually very crucial to the chances it has.

A foreign movie they may just reward best foreign picture to and B. It has the Netflix stigma which the academy has finally begun to reconsider.

Best picture in several critics groups. So has Roma. still to my point, I'd say the Favourite actually is sitting in first place right now.

still to my point, I'd say the Favourite actually is sitting in first place right now. Critics' awards don't determine the outcome of the Oscar race. The majority of the pundits who closely follow the Oscar race every year are NOT predicting The Favourite to win. Most of them are predicting A Star Is Born. Three of them are predicting Roma. Roma also has the majority of second place mentions, with 16 mentions. Only two of the pundits are predicting The Favourite, and it only has 5 second place mentions.

And regardless critics awards are very telling and can have a major effect in a race.

I'd like Bradley Cooper to get the Oscar but I think it'll go to Rami Malek.
