John Noble and James Noble. John was in the The Lord of the Rings movies and on Fringe. James played the governor on Benson and died in 2016. I still have to stop and think who's who.

As with the Reginalds upthread, there are three Genes I can tell apart, but sometimes forget which name belongs to whom: A kid actor of the '30 - '40s, he remained onscreen through the '50s, but by the '60s had moved into TV direction and production, for which he's best known by such shows as M*A*S*H and Lou Grant (he's still with us, and is due to turn 96 in a few weeks). Gene Raymond (pictured with real-life spouse Jeanette MacDonald). Usually second string to leading men like Clark Gable, Franchot Tone or Robert Montgomery in films like Red Dust, Sadie McKee and Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Raymond became a venerable TV presence from the '50s through the '70s. Gene Nelson was a reliable song and dance man in WB films of the '50s with the likes of Doris Day and Virginia Mayo, moving into television direction in the '60s, while remaining before the TV cameras into the '80s. Why I should get these three names mixed, I don't know; I never have any trouble with Kelly, Lockhart or Hackman.

I always used to get Bill Paxton (RIP) and Bill Pullman mixed up due to their names being sort of similar.

James Stewart & Stewart Granger Now you are just being silly! I was watching Footsteps in the Fog (1955) last night that stars Stewart Granger. Till about halfway I was confused with the name and thought where is the hero of the movie? I was waiting for a plain looking boyish face of Farley Granger. When I realised Stewart Granger's character was the hero of the picture I still didn't get it and thought how could the common boyish looking dude turn into such a manly aristocratic looking person?

I confuse Bridget Moynahan with Michelle Monaghan, mostly because of their last names, not because they look too much alike. Moynahan was in John Wick and I, Robot. Monaghan was in Mission: Impossible III and Source Code.
