Ok, I just watched this short for the first time on YouTube.
It's mildly amusing, but nothing to write home about.
Why is it such a Christmas/New Year phenomenon across the continent, particularly in Germany and Scandinavian countries?

I have no idea....maybe it is more the ritual, that you watch it with your family and all are peaceful and happy and agree on a common ground what is rare these days.

It's called 'Dinner for One'. Type that in to a pooter or telemaphone, and it'll come up on YouTube etc. It's an annual thing in parts of Europe, South Africa, and Australia. Don't know why, it's a pretty repetitive and turgid sketch if you ask me.
