Even if there are better individual movies outside the MCU, as a series as a whole no superhero series can compare. The most respected and revered superhero franchise of all-time is definitely The Dark Knight. All 3 movies have an IMDb rating of 8.3 or higher and all 3 movies are in the IMDb top 116. Even on RT (which MCU fans love to use as a metric), all 3 movies have an RT rating of 84% or higher. No other superhero series, including MCU, can compare or even come close to The Dark Knight franchise.

By now, the MCU has out earned almost every kind of competition of its kind. The only franchise that compares in terms of worldwide accolade and earnings is probably James Bond.
With MCU vs The Dark Knight...personally I don't think any of the MCU movies are as good as The Dark Knight. But we're also talking 3 movies vs 20, 20 with 3 more on the way. Even you surely realize that the MCU is a much bigger canvas and The Dark Knight trilogy works best through its smaller output. If Christopher Nolan had to pump out 20 Dark Knights he'd probably go crazy.

And most of those 20 movies are the same movie over and over again. Just because MCU is formulaic and puts out movies like an assembly line doesn't make it any more impressive when it's basically the same movie over and over again.

In that regard yes, The Dark Knight is better but that's one trilogy surrounding one on going story involving one superhero. The MCU is a collection of 20 movies, one big over arching series that has several series within it, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Guardians of the Galaxy, dealing with stories within stories and dozens of characters etc And they've been able to make it work and make it work amazingly well considering nothing of that scale had ever been done before. To have that many movies tie in to each other, them all be at least decent with a fair amount of real good ones in there, not to mention the financial success that they've all had is unbelievable. You only need to look at the sheer amount of trouble that the DCEU has run into it and that's only got 6 movies. Not even a third of the amount and probably three times the problems.

Triology ≠ Franchise Box Office Mojo has The Dark Knight Trilogy as a franchise: www.boxofficemojo.com/franchises/. So once again, you're wrong, just like you were wrong in DeflateGate.

At any rate, the MCU has a lot more material. I still think the only relevant competition is James Bond because no other franchise has the body count Oh wait, maybe Godzilla does.

LOL. Is Guardians of the Galaxy a franchise? Iron Man? Ant Man? Sequel ≠ Franchise Try thinking for yourself for a change. You might be able to avoid these blunders that put you on the wrong side in deflate-gate.

And yet after all that they have no oscar, oscar nom and still no movie in the same breath as Dark Knight or Logan. Perhaps in another 10 years yeh.. The MCU has 10 Oscar nominations and will add more when Black Panther and Infinity War receives Oscar nominations.

Looks like you skipped over everything else in their comment, as well as ignored scabab's response to you as well. Nobody is trying to discredit The Dark Knight trilogy or its best entry but at the end of the day its just a trilogy - a three part arc following ONE DC Comics character which applies a fairly hyper-realistic aesthetic that allowed few fantastical elements that one can instantly identify as being "comic book-y". It had a beginning, middle, and an end, it tied into no larger universe or is still active as we speak. It is never going to be re-explored. The MCU however is comprised of 20 theatrically released movies, 11 television shows, five shorts, two digital series, and 31 comic books. Most of their content has been very successful with critics and general audiences, they incorporate lots of very different stylistic and storytelling devices used for other genres to tell superhero stories like their printed counterpart. By now its pretty ridiculous to claim that the MCU is neither special, unique, or undeserving of any sort of praise or respect - nobody else has been able to replicate their successful business module, look at Universal's Dark Universe.
