Let’s set aside our personal opinions and look at this objectively, eh? Which superhero movies are considered the best? I will break it up into six categories. MCU, Marvel, X-men, DC, DCEU, and Other. To accomplish this task, I will use a tool that some of you may have only recently heard of ... Google. I will also limit the best movies to the top ten, and reference the top ten lists from the Google search. That should give us a large enough sample for a definitive conclusion. Keep in mind that your own personal opinion is worthless and weak, particularly if you’ve been expressing it for years with zero results (other than your own publicly displayed anguish). Please keep it to yourselves because, honestly, no one cares. Not even your mother. Google A Google search of the best superhero movies returns five MCU movies, two Marvel movies, and three DC movies. Rotten Tomatoes This is the list that was endlessly referred to as the ultimate guide by some silly DCEU fans when one of their movies cracked the top ten, but in reality it’s just one of a number of lists on the internet. Once again we’ve got five MCU movies in the top ten, a couple Marvel movies, a DC movie, one DCEU movie, one Other. Vulture Among Vultures top ten are three MCU movies, three DC movies, two Marvel movies, two Other. The Ringer Five MCU, Two DC, two Marvel, one DCEU. GamesRadar Five MCU, three Marvel, one DC, one Other. Newsweek Four MCU, two DC, two Marvel, one Other. IGN Five MCU, three DC, one Marvel, one X-Men (finally!) Ranker Three DC, two MCU, two Marvel, two X-Men, one Other. CinemaBlend Four MCU, three Marvel, one DC, one DCEU, one Other. BusinessInsider Four DC, three MCU, two Marvel, one DCEU WinnersClearly, the MCU makes the best superhero movies with a number of their movies dominating these best 10 lists. DC, prior to being corrupted by the DCEU, is a respectable second place, and non-MCU Marvel comes in third. LosersIt’s a bit of a toss up. Let’s call it a tie. Although the DCEU has an entry in multiple lists, it’s the same movie each time ... and I was beginning to worry that X-Men was going to completely whiff, but it managed to squeak onto a couple lists at the end. Still, a pretty sad showing for both franchises. So there you have it. Reality. It’s best if you just face it. Beating yourself up on the MCU board, every single day, is no substitute for a nice little sit down with a therapist. |

I'm glad there's a distinction between DC and DCEU. I haven't seen Aquaman yet but the DCEU movies are awful, in my opinion. With the exception of Wonder Woman, they all come across as rushed, smug, convinced of their superiority, and all around bad.
I love DC though. It doesn't come out as much on a Marvel centered board but I've enjoyed countless hours of inspiration from products under the DC banner, whether it's the animated movies, the cartoon series or Christopher Reeve's Supermans and Dark Knights, I think they're great.
The MCU should win through sheer volume. Their offerings are consistently above average, a few of them flirting with exceptional, and a narrative that spans an near impossible number of chapters with rotating main characters, almost all of which are well received critically and financially.
The MCU would win over The Dark Knight trilogy. Even if I didn't personally enjoy the direction they took the story in The Dark Knight Rises and consider it the weakest of the trilogy, it's still a solid movie that finishes a really strong brand. Issue is there's only 3 of them, which is fine. A lot of trilogies are being added to because Hollywood wants to make money; Star Wars is no longer a trilogy, Terminator's no longer a trilogy, Die Hard...plenty of trilogies that were trilogies for years until a fourth was added aren't anymore. The Dark Knight trilogy remains just that, and is stronger as a trilogy than it would be by adding to it. Nolan's earned his riding off into the sunset.
So far, the MCU and The Dark Knight trilogy (for me) have the most solid batting averages. The Dark Knight trilogy's weak link is stronger than a lot of other movies, even if I don't think it fits in with its own trilogy on its best terms. MCU has a universe inside and outside its own and its weak links add to the universe with exposition and balance.
The other franchises have anchors that really weigh them down. Spiderman 3 I didn't care for the direction they took the story. Aside from just its quality as a movie, I thought it was kind of a crowd displeaser. Particularly the fallout of Parker and Mary Jane, but maybe that's a different discussion. Depending on who you ask, the X-Men (my favorite characters from the comics) have a few knockouts but can't seem to always land on their feet for critics. The first two Superman movies were terrific. Superman in my opinion was better, even though I think Superman 2 was richer and darker, with nastier more intimidating villains. I couldn't get into Superman III or IV. The Blade movies were fine. The standalone movies are hit and miss, like Green Lantern and Superman Returns. The DCEU movies are a footstool on fire with only Wonder Woman being allowed to put her feet up.
Actually, if there's one comic book universe that might give them MCU a run for its money it's the DC animated movies like Batman v Robin, Justice League v Teen Titans, Flashpoint Paradox, Gods and Monsters, etc. I don't know if they count as "movies" but they're consistently really good.
So yeah, MCU works for me. No regrets.

They've always been all over the place, you never know what you're gonna get.
X-Men has been much more consistent but they've also had their highs and lows like X-Men Days of Future Past and Logan but then X-Men Apocalypse and Origins Wolverine.
Is Dark Phoenix and New Mutants going to turn out good or bad? You don't know.
Marvel have been like DC, you get good movies like Blade and Spider-Man but then garbage like Elektra and Ghost Rider. In-between movies like Daredevil and The Amazing Spider-man.
With the MCU, there's movies that are much better than others but even the worst ones are at least decent. They have yet to do a movie where the consensus is that it is a bad movie.
They're the most consistent of the lot even if they're top movies might not be quite as good as some of the other top movies.

DC also has Superman: The Movie (which launched the era of big-budget superhero movies and which created the template for almost all superhero origin movies) and Superman II. That's 3 home runs right there. MCU has yet to have a home run as none of their movies are as good as those 3. |

Without his input DC would fall to a very weak 3rd place behind everything Marvel. DC fans would be reduced to reminiscing over a 40 year old movie that hasn’t aged very well. Almost as pathetic as Dallas Cowboy fans reminiscing about the last time they were in the Super Bowl. |

DC, FOX, Sony all tied.
the thing is when DC, FOX, Sony makes a comic film it is so artistically good and well crafted and you can tell the movie were made by people.
MCU is worse because all their movies are factory processed foods you cant even tell the differences.
