And ... I liked it! Much more than Wonder Woman. I mean, it was goofy as all get up, but I found myself laughing with it more than at it. I can’t really think of anything that made it a particularly “good” movie ... maybe it was a case of reduced expectations ... but it put a smile on my face, and that’s a win in my book.
I would definitely put Aquaman as the best DCEU movie so far and a worthy template for that franchise moving forward.
There is nothing wrong with being the court jester, as long as you're a good court jester. Aquaman is.

Nice little review. The humour definitely worked and was a good choice to make.

If I had to choose out of those probably the pee joke. I was mainly referring to the upbeat tone that glorified the humour.

Where do you stand on the reaction of certain "DCU tribalists," who are now loving this movie after years of championing the "gritty" DCU and hating on the more upbeat tone of the MCU. ![](https://s26.postimg.cc/gf93ycxax/giveup.gif)

Who is ArArArchStanton? ![](https://s26.postimg.cc/kypxxm4k9/help.gif) Your cousin from Knowhere. oh man, I so wish I could see that! Is Aquaman making ArchStanton running amok too? Shifting his double standards and conjuring up countless plot holes he finally falls into? Must be comedy cold. I'd pay to see that. Hell, I would sacrifice one of my theater visits of this near-masterpiece in order to see Arch do the Aquadance. ![](https://s26.postimg.cc/x67gkeemx/popcorn.gif)

Like stuff concerning the RT score. Only except he seems to have moved on from it. Aside from that, he’s doing fine and dandy.

I think I stay with Norm, he seems more natural and amusing. (And he probably would not send demented hate-PMs for good measure).

...King Kong Brady liked Aquaman… Why does that surprise you? According to some DC fans (ok, maybe just one) it was so MCU-like that critics actually thought it was made by Marvel! I’ve also said that WW was a good superhero movie. Most of the criticisms I’ve expressed about WW are more along the lines of counter programming to all the worship that was going on ... before it got all those Oscar nominations. The best way to silence critics is to make a good product. Wonder Woman was good, Aquaman was better. A couple more like those two and we can begin to wash away the foul taste of BvS, Suicide Squad and Justice League. I also find it amusing that Aquaman is going to be the DCEU’s biggest hit and the defining DCEU movie moving forward. You just know they’re rewriting Wonder Woman 2 to be a comedy, as we speak. Leaving DCEU fans lost, confused, unsure, perplexed, disorientated and bewildered.

Spoiler: All fanboys are hypocrites.
