Then why bone cancer in children? bad genes...or radiation...? Do you think it would be within god's power to create life in such a way that cancer could never exist in any form, no matter what? Do you think he could do that in such a way that cancer wouldn't be replaced by anything as bad or worse?

Further he promises that those things will be done away with despite our apparent desires to keep them going.

So cancer is part of God's punishment when He banished Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden?

Of course Yahweh is good. If the pulpit "assures" you that Jehovah is one hell-of-a guy, and that you''ll go to heaven, they you shall return next week to hear the same pat-on-the-back that you're doing the right thing. More importantly, you'll leave $$$$ in the collection plate.

Further he promises that those things will be done away with despite our apparent desires to keep them going. OK, so what's he waiting for? Or, to put it another way, why is the Lord slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness?

Those are not the question I asked. I asked you if it would be within his power to create life in such a way that cancer could never exist in any form, no matter what. Would it, or would it not? That's a tricky one, pretty mean, actually. And apparently very difficult for him to answer! There's a concept in design called 'fail safe'. For instance in a nuclear reactor there are control rods which, when pushed into the reactor, stop it from working. When pulled out, they make the reactor run faster and faster. You could design a reactor so that those rods are pushed in from underneath - but if you did, then a power failure to the motors on the rods would leave them sitting below the reactor, making it run faster and faster. The reactor would have failed in a dangerous way. So designers put them above the reactor, using power to hold them up. That way a power failure means they naturally drop down into the reactor, closing it down. So a failure makes the reactor safer, not more dangerous. If christians are to be believed, god made life, and in fact the world, in an incredibly 'fail dangerous' way. He designed it so that when the fall happened, it didn't just corrupt the people who sinned - it corrupted all of their descendants for thousands of years. And not only that, it corrupted the entire natural world. All the animals. Even the geology, climate, etc of the planet itself. They seriously argue that the reason my mother died of cancer last year is that six thousand years ago two people ate a piece of fruit that they were told not to. This to me seems like poor design. So I'm asking - could god have designed the world so that it was 'fail safe'? Could he have arranged things so that the sin of Adam and Eve did not cause the corruption of their DNA code in such a way that cancer became a thing. If god could do that... then why didn't he? And if god couldn't do that... then why call him god? If one accepts the premise that the fall corrupted the world, the one reasonable conclusion is that god wanted it to corrupt the world. Given his placement of the tree of knowledge, a suspicious mind might even think he wanted the fall to happen.

When did you get to be such a whiney little dick sucker? - "Smithy hasn't responded to the question that he already responded to, yet??!... Hrrumph!! Hurrmph, I say!" I'm sorry for your loss... but: Is that it? You're mad at God for taking your mommy? All that fruit story is... is an attempt to explain why that bad shit happens... What is an alternate view? "Nature just naturally makes cancer to kill people"? Get mad at nature... Get mad at cancer. Did she smoke? Eat a lot of processed foods? Get mad at corporations that put profits over human life. The Bible suggesting that God has taken away His guidance and control over Man and Earth in some attempt to prove that we are not better off without that said guidance and control is not something that you should be this whiney about. It's either just a made up story... or a real demonstration. Hell.. At least if it's real, you get your mom back.

Then why bone cancer in children? If we're presuming the existence of God for the sake of this thread then your question is kind of silly. IF God exists, there is generally an afterlife going along with that. IF there is an afterlife, the worst suffering here gets put into a different perspective. Bone cancer for children becomes a morbid amusement park ride for the soul, or a way for the immortal to experience mortality.

He’s not slow just because you think he’s slow. He’s on time. I’m not quite sure why this has anything to do with genetics and environment being the reason for bone cancer.

Those are not the question I asked. I asked you if it would be within his power to create life in such a way that cancer could never exist in any form, no matter what. Would it, or would it not? It did answer it but godless brains have a tough time understanding so let’s pretend that god doesn’t exist and yet exists which seems to be the implication of every question of this nature. The answer is YES if God existed and yet did not exist he likely could create life that would have no cancer in any way shape or form. To do that scientifically would mean to remove a lot of other factors that could be beneficial to mankind. Which would you prefer? I personally would take the risk of getting cancer as a kid in lieu of removal of environmental factors or the ability to fall in love with anyone I choose. Granted this isn’t the same thing as free will because this isn’t necessary about choice to be born but every function in our body is already created is built to avoid cancer with the occasional slip up when the wrong people hook up or the kid is born in the wrong place at the wrong time it we willfully invite the risk in any number of ways. Y initial response was the correct one though. I can’t wait to see how this didn’t answer the question either!😊

You said "he promises that those things will be done away with". He hasn't carried out his promise yet. So, he's waiting for some reason. What's his reason for waiting?

Given his placement of the tree of knowledge, a suspicious mind might even think he wanted the fall to happen. If a police department pulled a similar stunt they would be accused of entrapment, and any resulting prosecution would likely be invalidated by the courts.
