Didn't like it. I think it felt like an Arnie ego trip and too pretentious--though it does make a point about the dumbing down of culture. The BIG mistake it made was telling instead of showing. When the bad guy says he had talked to movie villains from Dracula to King Kong--we should have seen that. Using the Grim Reaper from the Seventh Seal is not impressive visually. They probably could have given Jurassic Park more competition if they had pushed the envelope technically and done some Forrest Gump-type footage manipulation beyond that weird moment with Humphrey Bogart and the cartoon cat.

When the bad guy says he had talked to movie villains from Dracula to King Kong--we should have seen that. We didn't see that...Because he DIDN'T talk to movie villains from "Dracula to King Kong". All he was doing was implying that he could use the ticket to bring famous movie villains into the real world in order to intimidate Jack Slater. Seriously... Talking to King Kong & Rosemary's Baby? Get real...

People did not flock to Jurassic Park to watch children eating jello.

It doesn't fully live up to its potential and the script is a bit unstructured, but I feel the film is better than its reputation suggests.
It's Arnold spoofing himself and the whole action genre with some funny moments. The Hamlet gag still makes me laugh and the colorful supporting characters played by various character actors (some of whom appeared in Arnold's previous films) add some enjoyability.
7/10

While I do not think the movie would have been better as a Slater film, it would have been better with either a better kid (Macaulay Culkin or bust...) or a young adult.
They tried to stick a Spielberg vibe and missed the landing. Plus Schwarzenegger’s acting was subpar after a steady improvement.
He returned to form in True Lies which should have been his last action hero movie.

It wasn't good. The makers went way overboard and it just became annoying.

I will always love this movie. I just watched it again recently and it is terrible for the most part. Some of the scenes are so cringe worthy they almost invented the term. Still, it has some of Arnold's best one liners and the premise is great. Also, Charles Dance and Arnold are having a blast throughout the movie and you can't help but have fun.

The scene where they chase the truck and do the jump over the interstate. The kid's eyes cross and the lines are horrible in that scene.

I saw it during its release theatrically. Great film in my opinion, and the soundtrack was amazing (for someone that grew up in the 80s and early 90s). The kid was a little goofy, but he wasn't too bad. The '69 Bonneville convertible that Arnold drives is pretty B.A. as well. I liked the sequence in the Blockbuster video and there is a standup for Stallone in Terminator 2.

A Tom Noonan action figure -

I only saw it once, when it was in the theaters back in '93, so I don't remember much of it. I do know that I walked out wondering what the hell Arnie was thinking when he signed on for it though. The one thing I do vividly remember is the first sentence of the newspaper review from a local critic...verbatim, it was "They should have called it Arnold the Duck.
