Maybe if Gaga didn't seem to take her cues from Madonna stylistically I could vote for her, she's very talented. She does seem to be drifting away from all the wacky costumes lately though. Madonna invented her own style, although even she borrowed from Debbie Harry. Still, she built her own success and has lasted all this time and I do listen to her more often than Gaga. Gaga may have the edge in the acting department, but I actually appreciate Evita and Shanghai Surprise.

My vote goes to Madonna, even though Lady Gaga is more talented than most mainstream pop artists currently around. Madonna may not have the best voice in the world, but Lady Gaga hasn't made an album that comes close to Ray of Light. Lately Madonna's music has become siginificantly worse so if we're talking about best at this moment then I'd go with Lady Gaga.
