I never thought I could ever feel so effectively transported to a different time, to watch an event that I knew so well, as if it was actually happening right in front of me. That is some truly powerful filmmaking. That is the future power of film. Then, after 12 years of waiting, Cameron helped me really see the light, see how his films work so well with Avatar. It was his Vertigo / 2001. Avatar was the film for which any student of film can look at and study as art.



Most people think I'm crazy. But, the truly great filmmakers can't actually be seen, doing anything, because their characters and stories are the first things anyone thinks about. No one thinks to look at everything in every shot and how it may all effect them, psychologically and emotionally. In a Cameron film, all they pay attention to is exactly what Cameron wants them to. That's the greatest achievement of a truly great filmmaker.
