Outside of allergies, it's a tad ridiculous.

Not sure about tacky, but it's definitely annoying.

Kind of, I had a friend that would drive waiters and waitresses nuts with asking a million questions about everything on the menu. Understandable, they had other customers. Sometimes we would get another waiter. lol I love her, but that part was unpleasant.

My step mom can be really high maintenance with food and drinks and it can be really annoying. I still remember that time when she ordered a glass of wine and drank over half of it and then told the waiter to get her a new one because there was a chip on the glass.. she was obviously just trying to get a free refill lol.. I also think its ungrateful too. My step sister was the worst picky eater as a kid. So many times at restaurants she would order a meal and bring it back because it looks weird or gross when it was completely fine. She would order chicken fingers and be like "but I want real chicken fingers" she was still a kid, but I just think her mom should have been more strict with that because it's a waste of food to keep ordering meals and then bringing them back all the time, and this happened almost every time.

I don't consider myself too picky of a eater but I am not that type who's thinks all food is pretty much the same either as some people will eat damn near anything and I can't do that.
but after reading some comments above, it's pretty safe to say I am not at that level for sure even though at certain places I tend to be a bit more pickier than others. but as a general rule at the typical fast food place or restaurant I am not that picky since I tend to order what I know I like as I am not going to send a order back for next to nothing like some people do.

If someone doesn't like the way something tastes and avoids it as a result, I'm not sure how that can be considered tacky.

It's only annoying if said picky eaters expect everyone else to cater to them. I'm a vegetarian (aspiring vegan, but not religious about it). If I'm invited somewhere I don't make a production of it beyond maybe asking what's in a dish if I'm not sure. I order side dishes or stick to whatever meat free options there are. If there aren't any I have a drink and a smile and hit a drive through on the way home.

You expect me to eat something I don't like? Would you rather I be picky or gagging/vomiting at the table?

I've always been a creature of habit with my eating, There aren't too many options since most food around here is pretty unhealthy and I'm too lazy to cook, for now.

What do you think? Is it tacky for grown adults to be picky eaters? I don't know if tacky is the right word. I think its more annoying, and in some cases its just silly. Its one thing to not eat some things because you're allergic, or vegetarian, or genuinely don't like it, but...
Adults who wont eat something because their food is "touching"... come on. Gimme a break. That's stupid when you're a child, how much more magnified is it when you're an adult!
I knew a girl who wouldn't eat Mushrooms because they're "a fungus". WHAT?! I knew a kid who would ONLY eat Chicken Nuggets and Hot Dogs. ONLY!!! NO JOKE!!! TRUE FUCKING STORY!!!
To limit your eating options is to deny yourself one of the great pleasures in life.

Sounds like your STEP family has some issues, and you should count yourself lucky not to be blood related. LOL! Imagine passing that shit on to your own kids! What did your dad see in her?

Eating is only a pleasure if you like what you’re eating. I’m a texture eater so ‘picky’ may apply but I’m simply not going to eat what I don’t like or can’t stand in my mouth.

My 9-year old niece is a very picky eater. I could probably count on my fingers the things that she will eat (none of which very healthy). Going out to eat with her is very annoying, but I guess that’s not very uncommon for children that age. The funny thing is, just the other day I was talking to a friend and she said that her niece is exactly the same – only she is nineteen years old.

Oh the worst is having to order something for them if you offer to go on a lunch run.
"I would like a fish sandwich, well done." "Order French fries without salt, that way they have to cook them right then, and they will be hot that way." "I would like a green burrito with green sauce, it's not on the menu and sometimes they don't know what you are talking about, but they will make it." "Here, I have a coupon."
