That way they could establish a unique personality and abilities, like flying and then see about making a movie because at that point it'd be years after Aquaman came out. But there's surely going to be an Aquaman 2 now so MCU would have to delay a Namor movie for several years to avoid looking like they're ripping off Aquaman. There is no Namor movie in development that we know of, they can introduce him as part of an ensemble in another movie like Black Panther 2 or a Fantastic Four movie. And they can do a lot to differentiate him from Aquaman.

Well it wouldn't be worth them not making a movie at all because of it. The comic book audience already know there's an Aquaman and a Namor. The similarities have been known about for decades. I saw a Family Guy episode the other day that made a joke out of it. I don't think people would be all that bothered really, there's always been similarities between Marvel and DC. They could even make him a villain in Black Panther 2 so the underwater aspect didn't play so much of a part. Then spin him off into his own movie after ward.

A period piece would be more appropriate for Namor. Something set at the dawn of modern deep-sea exploration. Aquaman makes light of the true perils of the deep; the crushing depths, sudden narcosis, the cold and the darkness don't seem to exist in that world. It glosses over all that for a more fantastical vision of glowing sea creatures and conversations held in medium that can't support them. I find it hard to believe that no human has ever accidentally stumbled onto the laser light show that is the DCEU's version of Atlantis. Namor's version of the same should be a bit more grounded and mysterious.
It's going to be easy to distinguish the two Monarchs and their worlds but, Author with his likable charm and eye-candy sea kingdom is bound to be more popular.
James Cameron would be the perfect advisor for a Namor film... Maybe even the perfect director.
