Favourite show ever, only one I've watched a 2nd time and will watch again and again in the future. For anybody that never watched it, I tell them to watch the "Pine Barrens" ep as a taster and if they dont like that then look elsewhere for your entertainment The only prob I see with that is that Pine Barrens is like the best episode of he entire series. In a way, it's not representative. Tony is not central. Paulie and Christopher are comically blundering the whole time. A good starting episode is College.

Just watching The Blue Comet ep again. The hit on Bobby was pure genius. The train set, the little toy characters on the train set, the tranis themselves (train moving to camera when the killers are coming in, the train derailing as Bacala dies). No doubt that the Sopranos was the best TV ever. And the final scene, Tony with the artillery piece laying in bed, staring at the door. Might be the 6th or 7th time I've seen it and it gets better every time. And you had to love Phil Leotardo's head getting crushed. Loved the reaction of the people watching Phil head getting flattened

For me, The Sopranos are the tv show equivalent to Aaron Rodgers - - great yet still overrated. I like it a lot, but, to me, both Breaking Bad and The Wire were better.
And for an argument that I know I will not find supporters for: if a random episode was on at the same time of both The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire, more times than not I'd go with Boardwalk Empire.

This kind of made me think what's the greatest HBO Original Show of All-Time? Sopranos Tales From the Crypt The Hitchhiker Dream On Deadwood Carnival Now I love mob movies - but I also love horror - so I think TFTC and The Hitchhiker can't be so easily dismissed - also - if you've never seen/heard of Dream On? I highly recommend looking it up. In fact - I think Martin Tupper's life may mirror a lot of ours on here. I have some holes in my watching (never saw Deadwood, Westworld, or Barry) but my five favorite: The Wire Boardwalk Empire The Sopranos The Deuce The Leftovers

There’s no better time than now to catch up with the movie coming out this year!

What a great year for TV and movies 1999 was.
I saw the entirety of The Sopranos for a second time about a couple of months ago. I liked it the first time I saw it though there were elements that bothered me. Then following that I had moments where I'd binge watch clips of it on YouTube, and I started to realise how great it was, and then the second time I watched it I found it better and more entertaining. There are still bits I'd skip and it's a little heavy on the dream sequences. Other than that it's a fantastically written and acted drama that I'm sure I'll come back to for a third viewing at some point.

Have the 1st Season and saw a majority of it. Great atmosphere and love Buschemi. Will have to finish it at one point. I think towards the end of the 1st season I just couldn't become invested anymore since Buschemi's original 'laborer' joined Capone and let Capone for Buschemi again - and I didn't get the sense it was to off Lucky. Also the irish immigrant chick with kids who latched onto to Lucky - you got a sense she was playing him the whole time but the story seemed rather slow to develop - unless I'm missing something in the Season 1 Finale like either the kid or the chick turning their back on Lucky - which is kind of what I expected all along - and the rise of Capone.

I liked Boardwalk Empire but, at times, it seemed to drown in its own authenticity. Nearly every scene the show was saying "See how much we can make this look like 1922 Atlantic City?". And I could physically feel my interest drain out of me when Nucky wife (Margaret?) was on screen. However, Season Three was a hoot. Yeah, Bobby Cannavale hammed it up a bit as Mr 3 in 1 Oil himself, Gyp Rosetti, but that season really moved. Funny, who with historical creeps like Enoch Thompson, Charles Luciano, Al Capone, Meyer Lansky, Benjamin Siegel, they had to invent a character to be the Big Bad.
And Richard Harrow was a great character.

Even better was right after when Tony tells Adrianna while on a cell phone Chris tried to commit suicide. When she's in the car with Silvio, you know what's going to happen. You at first see Ade in her car, heading south alone. You think "Good for her, she might get away". Then it becomes just a fantasy and she with Sil. Never been a show that was so consistently fantastic in every episode, in every facet. The music. Sure, there was a couple clunker episodes. The one with Johnny Boy's ex, Fran something or other. Yuck. And both the Sopranos kids were irritating as fuck at certain times. But no show can ever hold a candle to it, as far as consistency. Lost painted itself into a corner. Breaking Bad was phenomenal, but the first season wasn't up to the others. The last season of The Wire didn't have the best material. And no show could kill of a character better. Death was a treat on The Sopranos. Pussy, Adrianna, Bobby. Even minor characters. Mustang Sally who got whacked by Bobby Bacala Sr. Fucking epic. I do hold the Wire above Sopranos though.

One of the best shows ever. I wanted to re-watch it (I have all season on DVD) but I couldn't pass Janice...what a disgusting human being.

The Wire is harder to come by, it's more demanding, but it is also more rewarding. But that's just my opinion. I love it how they developed one complex universe, and each season has a different angel (=> Economy, education, media, politics etc. pp.).

Read a solid piece at The Ringer... about the finale.
The black cut might in fact be the viewer being shot dead... which is actually pretty f'n awesome.

I consider the Wire just as entertaining as Sopranos. If there’s a big difference to me it’s that the Wire does shift themes at times almost jarringly so. The first three seasons are all pretty much under the drug and crime umbrella but after that it goes toward education and politics more and that’s where there’s a bit of a disconnected feel at times.

Watched the Sopranos through 2+ times. That and Mad Men are my 2 all-time favorites.
Tried to get into The Wire, Deadwood, Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones. Nope, nope, nope, and nope.
