Congrats Kevin Feige, no one dare give a bad review
Seems like 14 people out of 444 did dare give it a bad review. Instead of congratulating the Writer/Director we have to congratulate Kevin Feige? Was it Feige the one that ordered the Artificial Boosters from the Illuminati? Wait a second I think it was Ryan Coogler that bought the Artificial Boosters and Biased Critics this time not Feige. I remember reading that Ryan went to the secret society of the 5 wealthiest people in the world known as the Pentavirate, who run everything in the world including Hollywood Critics and meet tri-annually in a secret country mansion in Colorado known as The Meadows.

‘Paddington 2’ Sets Rotten Tomatoes Record As Best-Reviewed Movie Ever
by Nancy Tartaglione January 19, 2018 2:56pm
Blowing the lid off the critical marmalade jar, Paddington 2 has set a new benchmark as the best-reviewed film ever on Rotten Tomatoes, Paddington 2 has a 100% Fresh score.
Director Paul King tells me of the RT news, “It’s incredibly gratifying." The film was finished, King says, “on a Wednesday at 1100 and we screened it at about 200 that afternoon” for critics. “It’s a strange experience and you can’t help but hope for the best for this little character and the film you’ve created. It’s very lovely they were warm and enthusiastic.”
He notes that “younger kids are probably not reading film reviews or on Twitter” and adds, “Hopefully the parents are reading reviews to children. I dream of households across America going, ‘Hey, son, listen to this metric. This is arguably the most appreciated film in history.'”

What...? My Spider sense is telling me: Sham! BP was not even the best reviewed CBM 2018. Spider-Verse had 97 % Tomatometer too, but a higher Critics Average Score of 8. 8/10 (BP: 8. 2/10) and much higher audience score of 94% (BP only 79%). No to speak of Spider-Verse winning Golden Globes...and it not having the boosting Disney & Diversity Bonus. May I assume that the latter factors were the deciding ones. Based on facts the clear winner 2018 is Spider-Verse. This film is THE critical darling. Deservedly so! - Not only does it strike ample PC diversity points with a colored Spider-Boy (and a disillusioned Peter Parker fattening up drinking green milk). - It's also an original and imaginative tale in a saga that got more and more narratively stale and repetitive with each entry. - Also, it is a fresh technical & style approach in terms of animation and art style showing Disney/Pixar what creative filmmaking taking risks can do. Besides, it had by far the best Stan Lee cameo ever.

Sorry I got bored. TL;DR = Rotten Tomatoes should publish their formula for ranking movies with different amounts of critical reviews. I would change the order of best reviewed of 2018 and change top 5 of 67 superhero movies list. I didn't know they've been doing the Golden Tomato for 20 years now. That's what we need more circle jerks to make everyone argue. Taking a look at the stats Into the Spider-verse seems to be the anomaly. Here is the top 5 of 2018: 1: Black Panther: CRITICS SCORE 97% at 8.2/10 From 444, 430 good/14 bad AUDIENCE SCORE 79% at 4.1/5 from 84,175 ratings. 2: Mission Impossible Fallout: CRITICS SCORE 97% at 8.3/10 From 376, 365 good/11 bad AUDIENCE SCORE 88% at 4.3/5 from 13,472 3: Blackkklansman: CRITICS SCORE 95% at 8.3/10 From 369, 352 good/17 bad AUDIENCE SCORE 82% at 4/5 from 7,105 4: Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse: CRITICS SCORE 97% at 8.8/10 From 324, 314 good/10 bad AUDIENCE SCORE 94% at 4.6/5 from 9,886 5: A Star is Born CRITICS SCORE 90% at 8.1/10 From 443, 398good/45 bad AUDIENCE SCORE 81% at 4.1/5 from 15,304 If you are going to try and adjust the ratings based off the amount of critical reviews for each movie then they need to show how they did it. The only thing we get on the Golden Tomato page is this: It's not very transparent is it? It's the same formula they use to come up with the Top 67 Super Hero Movies of all time. And we all know what a cluster fuck that is. By all rights Logan should be higher rated than Wonder Woman on that list. It may be just me, but I feel the Rating should be weighted more than the percentage. It very well might be that way, but we have no way of knowing. Also the Incredibles 2 should be higher ranked than Wonder Woman imho based off the stats. 1: Black Panther: CRITICS SCORE 97% at 8.2/10 From 444, 430 good/14 bad AUDIENCE SCORE 79% at 4.1/5 from 84,175 ratings. 2: Wonder Woman: CRITICS SCORE 93% at 7.6/10 From 410, 381 good/29 bad
AUDIENCE SCORE 88% at 4.3/5 from 125,839 ratings.
3: Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse: CRITICS SCORE 97% at 8.8/10 From 324, 314 good/10 bad AUDIENCE SCORE 94% at 4.6/5 from 9,886 4:The Incredibles 2: CRITICS SCORE 94% at 7.8/10 From 331, 310 good/21 badAUDIENCE SCORE 86% at 4.2/5 from 16,103 5:Logan: CRITICS SCORE 93% at 7.9/10 From 371, 345 good/26 bad
AUDIENCE SCORE 90% at 4.3/5 from 90,900 ratings. Now to the crux of the problem. Just looking at the raw data it seems that Into the Spiderverse should be the number 1 rated movie of 2018 and the number 1 on the list of 67 superhero movies. I think the problem we run into is that Into the Spider-verse has fewer reviews compared to all the movies I've put the data up. (The Top 5 of 2018 and Top 5 Superhero movies) Something with Rotten Tomatoes' formula puts a strong emphasis on total number of reviews. That's my best guess, I shouldn't have to guess, but RT has to keep something proprietary it seems. We know that the 2018 best reviewed list is locked in. Looking at the total number of reviews for other animated films, there is only a very small chance for more reviews to come in for Spider-man. I pulled the top 10 Animated films of a list of 100 from RT. I did this to grab the number of reviews for each movie: Into the Spider-verse 324, Inside Out 347, Coco 308, Paddington 2 216, Incredibles 2 331, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs 47, Toy Story 2 163, Zootopia 268, Up 290,Toy Story 3 299, and Finding Nemo 262 It's pretty safe to say that Into the Spider-verse is stuck in it's current position on the Superhero Movies list. That list will stay the same until we add Captain Marvel, Shazaam, End Game, Hellboy, etc, After comparing the stats, I think the RT ranking for top 5 Superhero Films should be: 1: Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse: CRITICS SCORE 97% at 8.8/10 From 324, 314 good/10 bad AUDIENCE SCORE 94% at 4.6/5 from 9,886 2: Black Panther: CRITICS SCORE 97% at 8.2/10 From 444, 430 good/14 bad AUDIENCE SCORE 79% at 4.1/5 from 84,175 ratings. 3:Logan: CRITICS SCORE 93% at 7.9/10 From 371, 345 good/26 bad AUDIENCE SCORE 90% at 4.3/5 from 90,900 ratings. 4:The Incredibles 2: CRITICS SCORE 94% at 7.8/10 From 331, 310 good/21 bad AUDIENCE SCORE 86% at 4.2/5 from 16,103 5: Wonder Woman: CRITICS SCORE 93% at 7.6/10 From 410, 381 good/29 bad AUDIENCE SCORE 88% at 4.3/5 from 125,839 ratings. After looking at the stats the top 5 rated movies of 2018 should be: 1: Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse: CRITICS SCORE 97% at 8.8/10 From 324, 314 good/10 bad AUDIENCE SCORE 94% at 4.6/5 from 9,886 2: Mission Impossible Fallout: CRITICS SCORE 97% at 8.3/10 From 376, 365 good/11 bad AUDIENCE SCORE 88% at 4.3/5 from 13,472 3: Black Panther: CRITICS SCORE 97% at 8.2/10 From 444, 430 good/14 bad AUDIENCE SCORE 79% at 4.1/5 from 84,175 ratings. 4: Blackkklansman: CRITICS SCORE 95% at 8.3/10 From 369, 352 good/17 bad AUDIENCE SCORE 82% at 4/5 from 7,105 5: A Star is Born CRITICS SCORE 90% at 8.1/10 From 443, 398good/45 bad AUDIENCE SCORE 81% at 4.1/5 from 15,304 I doubt anybody will read this or make it to this point. If you did then I'm sorry I got Bored. I think they basically only took the (only binary) Tomatometer (without average reviews meter etc) and put that through a Bayasian method (statistical) filter, and based on sheer review numbers BP was best reviewed -which would explain it. It's a very selective criteria, but at least that would make sense.

Best reviewed *live action* CBM.

I studied to become a teacher many years ago. At the last moment I went from Educational Social Studies degree to a pure History Degree. I switched with 1 semester to go. By that time I had taken all my education courses. I got cold feet as my Student Teacher assignment got nearer. So after my 1st semester senior year(fall semester), but before Student Teaching (spring semester) I switched to History. I had all the History courses taken for my Major. All the Education, Sociology, Economics, and Psychology Courses I took counted as my electives and Liberal Arts Structure. Also all my art classes went toward my Art Minor. In the end I just had to take 5 classes that second semester to graduate on time. One of those was the Senior Thesis Class. Where we had to pick a thesis and research it all semester. Part of the grade was what we discussed in class about our evidence. The other part was the actual Thesis. You really didn't have to worry about normal stuff that goes along with large research paper. By the time you turned it in. The whole class has poured over your paper over and over again. After 3 months you got so tired of your paper and everyone elses paper it was pathetic. Basically, you were researching it, doing many presentations each day. The rest of the class was your sounding board and proofreaders. This is why Rotten Tomatoes not presenting the way they scored bothers me so much. Any time in the Education, Psychology, Economics, and Sociology courses we came up with a metric, rubric, system of scoring we had to show our work. The reasoning behind the metric/rubric was just as important as the results. When switching over to pure history the process was even more important. You had to constantly site your sources and keep yourself from subconsciously plagiarizing while paraphrasing. I hope I never have to see another APA footnote or MLA Annotative Bibliography again in my life. So that's why it erks me so that they don't explain their scoring system. I am half convinced they do it to keep some proprietary hold on the ranking. It just seems shady without that explanation. The Original IMDB was that way with it's top 250. You know they are weighting the variables in someway but not 100% sure how.

I only look at the audience score.
