Has anybody seen this movie yet? If so, is it any good?
It relates the boys' lives after their film career was over, and they travelled to London to perform on stage. I believe it also mentions their personal problems.
This past week TCM has been screening Laurel & Hardy movies, probably to promote this one.

I haven't seen this one, but the TV movie Stan (2006), which also focuses on their later years, is very good.

I’d like to see it, but I haven’t seen it yet. Going to the movies with family to see Mary Poppins, though.

My main interest in STAN & OLLIE stems from the fact that this movie seems to be about adult human relations, and not that CGI-laden garbage that floods the screen today. I think that this is the time of year where movie dregs, which have no hope for Oscar nods are released to theaters. I'd hate to think that S&O was one of those.

My main concern is that mainstream Stan & Ollie films are not available in the US on DVD. I'm told I have to go to the UK if I want to own these film copies.
I have a 4 volume set of their very obscure shorts on DVD but these in no way compare to their mainstream work.
I have no desire to see this biopic. Maybe if I could land a set of their original work I might change my mind.
And I will NOT try Amazon or any other mail order rip off to try and get these films.

koskiewicz You can see most of them on YouTube, if you’re interested in that. There’s also an extensive L&H collection on DVD that did come out a few years ago in the U.S.: You may also want to check your library. Mine has it.

snsurone (et al.) I just saw it (finally!) and wrote some comments on the “Now Playing” board: Not gonna argue about your comments Salzmankthis is just a reflection after seeing John C, Reilly and Steve Coogan on BBC The Graham Norton Show, as I understood it it's not about their classic movie shorts, it's more about the time when they traveled around Britain and Ireland, and for the first time getting to know each others, at least that is how it was presented, offcourse I don't know if that is refelcted in the actual movie you have seen. The tour might have gone beyond Britain and Ireland, since I've heard they toured Scandinavia too, I've heard about it, and some sell autographs very expensivly. October 1947 in Göteborg or as you call it Gothenburgh on some maps Posing for a once serious weekly magazine (it had became a porn magazine by the 1970s when I was young) "Den som inte Halvan tar" is a reference to a Swedish drinking song, as we called Laurel and Hardy "Helan och Halvan" translated to "The Whole and the Half", so the song goes that if you don't drink the Half you can't drink the Whole, not sure if that made it sense translated.

Great pictures, teleadm! Yes, that’s what the movie focuses on, but there are some flashbacks to their days with Hal Roach (and, as I noted, what happened with Zenobia is a major plot-point). I’m somewhat amazed (and bothered) that that magazine later became porn!

I’m somewhat amazed (and bothered) that that magazine later became porn! I'm only guessing, but I think it had to do with television, before there was only radio and newsreels, with television photo journalsim took a dive, maybe also new owners could be responsible.
