Surprisingly still a solid quirky, offbeat, comedy. I didn't think it would still hold up, but I laughed out loud several times. Whatever happened to Yahoo Serious, anyway? He did an admirable job directing this.

Update: They have it and I just put a hold on it. Looks like a fun and goofy movie.

It's been a long time since I've seen "Young Einstein"... I remember laughing my ass off, when he talked about "Splitting Beer Atoms"... and then... having to "save the world" by draining the power of the atomic brewing beer keg with his electric guitar

Yahoo Serious is mostly retired these days , time has flown and he is 65 . And for many years since his fame , he has strongly supported the indie-film movement in his own country , Australia . Besides Young Einstein (1988) , he made 2 other movies , Reckless Kelly (1993) and Mr Accident (2000) , both just as funny and quirky as the first movie , but internationally the critics and audiences moved away from his grassroots humor . And he returned to helping his local movie scene . As far as I know , he is in good health for his age .

I used to watch it whenever it was on TV here, though it hasn't been on in a long time. There are quite a lot of funny scenes throughout it (and some bizarre ones too). I always remember the Tasmanian Devil from this movie. "Tasmanian Devils. Eat anything they will. There's one of the mongrels now!" Another amusing moment from the movie that sticks out in my mind is actress Georgie Parker who has a cameo as a screaming fan so overcome with emotion as seeing Albert playing, she gets carried away and makes the mistake of elbowing Marie (Odile Le Clezio), who then elbows her back much more forcefully, reducing her to tears.
