I don't know if you meant this as a good thing or bad thing. In my mind it's a good thing. If they keep ratcheting up the stakes then it will get real ridiculous real quick. I meant is as a bad thing. Film just looks incredibly by the numbers. Peter goes on vacation to Europe with his buddies. Feel good tone and upbeat, teen comedy music. Meets Nick Fury, tone and music becomes slightly more ominous. And whats the narration Fury and Happy say? "You have gifts Parker. But youve got a job to do. Are you going to step up or not?" "Your all alone. Your friends are in trouble. What are you gonna do about it?" That's it? Thats the apparent conflict Peter has to face? In which case its glaringly predictable. Goes to Europe, friends get kidnapped by Mysterio, Parker saves them after a pep talk by Happy and Fury. Parker kisses "MJ". No deaths, no struggle, no stakes. Dont need to see him saving cities. Any form of inner challenges he has to face would suffice as personal stakes. Like Raimis Spiderman of juggling multiple responsibilities and fighting to live up to Uncle Bens last words. Andrew Garfields discovering the truth of the traumatic death of his parents or finding balance of his heroism and Gwen Stacy, which ends up costing him everything. Into the Spiderverse Morales trying to find acceptance from his father. Whats Homecoming and Far From Home offered against that? Parker trying to impress Happy Hogan to get a spot on the Avengers team. And now holidaying it up in Europe, saving his friends from some corny looking villains. Yawn. Please Sony, take back the creative ownership we need a Spiderman with substance. Not a Disneyfied joker like Tom Holland. Excellent post! That's why the Raimis Spider-Man movies are so much better than SMH. The Raimis Spider-Man movies had the powerful scene when Spider-Man catches up to the thief who shot Uncle Ben in the warehouse and sees his face for the 1st time and realizes it's the same thief he let get away earlier, had the heart-breaking scene when Peter confessed to Aunt May that he had lied about going to the library to study on the night that Uncle Ben was killed, and Peter's agony over wanting to give up being Spider-Man and just live a normal life vs living up to Uncle Ben's words about "great responsibility". In SMH, Peter doesn't give a shit about Uncle Ben's words about "great responsibility" and Peter's only motivation for being a hero is to show-off and try to impress an egotistical billionaire. FFH looks like nothing more than a remake of National Lampoon's European Vacation - go on a vacation across Europe and havoc ensues.

you're a DC fanboy who takes no issue with Superman using the guise of Clark Kent with just a pair of glasses. There have been many occasions when Martian Manhunter has taken the form of either Clark Kent or Superman and appeared in the same place and time as Clark Kent/Superman. Superman also has used robots to appear at the same place and time to throw suspicion off. But Peter doesn't have any robots or anyone to stand in for him. Ned is too fat to pass as Spider-Man. Yeah and those occasions do not happen on a regular basis, on a REGULAR BASIS Superman just puts on a pair of glasses to differentiate Clark Kent from Superman - this has been ridiculed for years, the reason why DC still does it is because of how long the concept has been going on, it's part of the mythos and its too late to really shake it up otherwise its not a familiar IP. Peter's only drawbacks with trying to hide his secret identity is location selection and that he doesn't change his voice when in costume, but his costume at least covers his entire body where as Superman's only goes up to the neck - you still see his face. It's pretty pointless to question this sort of thing, you might as well complain about every superhero who has a simplified human alter ego.

What is with the "home" titles? Will the next one be Spider-man: Homely? The next movies will be: Spider-Man: Home Alone Spider-Man: There's No Place Like Home Pssst! Over here...
*checks to make sure no one is looking*
Feel free to use this for your next thread title: The title Far From Home sounds like the title of a Disney cartoon about a lost dog Dont say I never did nothing for ya!

So how much is this going to disgrace itself to into the spiderverse Meanwhile regular people can appreciate both movies and what they adapt from the mythology instead of carrying a bias towards a studio.

Yay The Ramones! Yay London getting some serious damage again! Yay the helmet! I'm there Is that Agent 13 or perhaps even Black Widow with Fury? Maria Hill most likely, she's confirmed for the movie.

Looks as low stakes as Homecoming was. Not everything has to put the entire city in danger or even the whole world.

Far From Home. I won't be surprised if all the Elementals (the water dude, the sand man, the fire demon, etc.) combine together Voltron style to become "Super-Mega-Dyno-Elemental"!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So basically FFH is a copy of The Last Airbender? But the Elementals pre-date Avatar by a good few decades...

Peter's only drawbacks with trying to hide his secret identity is location selection and that he doesn't change his voice when in costume, but his costume at least covers his entire body where as Superman's only goes up to the neck - you still see his face. Doesn't matter if people can still see Superman's face. If people see Superman and Clark Kent together at the same place and same time, people will think they just look alike but they're not the same person. I used to have a co-worker who was a dead ringer for Chow Yun Fat. It's been noted many times before that Joe Montana and Barry Manilow look alike. People look alike sometimes. But if you saw 2 people whom you thought were the same person together at the same place and time, the natural and logical conclusion is that they just look alike but they are 2 different people. So that's why many people don't think that Superman and Clark Kent are the same person - because they've appeared together at the same place and time before many times. But Spider-Man and Peter Parker have never appeared together at the same place and time before, yet Spider-Man keeps appearing in the same cities that Peter Parker travels to. So how the fuck do "MJ" and the other kids in Peter's school not make the connection that Peter is Spider-Man?

And are you insinuating that anyone who works with a minor is now somehow a pedophile? The FBI would categorize a 70-year old man who sneaks into the hotel room of 2 high school kids and waits for them to come back as someone who behaves like a creepy pedophile. Nick Fury is not 70 years old, his actor is but the character is not. Secondly we know exactly what Fury is doing in the hotel room - to recruit Spider-Man for help in defeating a threat, nothing more.

Looks as low stakes as Homecoming was. Not everything has to put the entire city in danger or even the whole world. Agree. Personal stakes can still be as significant but this trailer doesnt show us any of Peters inner problems. Just looks like a run of the mill, save friends and have a good time doing it. Ill wait till trailer 2, maybe it will give us more story points.

I think it looks pretty good. Mysterio has a great design. Looks like they were battling the Elementals? Would be awesome if they actually turned out to be Sandman, Hydro Man, and Molten Man secretly working for Mysterio.
I still think it's stupid that Aunt May knows he's Spider-Man though.

Excellent post! That's why the Raimis Spider-Man movies are so much better than SMH. FFH looks like nothing more than a remake of National Lampoon's European Vacation - go on a vacation across Europe and havoc ensues. Yeah Raimis movies didnt need to be about saving a city from alien invasion or big scale stakes like that. It focused on Peters inner struggles and relationships. The hardships that being Spiderman brought to him. Losing Uncle Ben, unable to be with MJ, having his best friend Harry Osborne despise him, carrying the guilt of not telling Aunt May, being forced to fight his academic mentor. Those are all heavy themes that Raimi fleshed out very well. In Tom Holland's Spiderman theres really nothing at stake personally for him. Except wanting to join the Avengers. Its too shallow. And Far from Home unfortunately looks like its another boring Spiderman film. But ppl seem to like the trailer. I guess all you need are funny 1 liners and cool costumes these days
