So many great films from the 1940s. Didn't see them original run BUT did see many from the 40s and earlier on a big screen thanks to a Museum of Modern Art Membership. Saw most of the listed movies in this thread in their Original Runs and some of the older ones on re-release. One advantage of being a tad more Classic than some Before the home video era, I only rarely had access to a revival theater. But I could occasionally catch a classic on the big screen. In fact, that was what began my obsession with Humphrey Bogart. Near a half-century ago, My Lovely Wife and I were on our honeymoon in a university town. There was a theater just off campus showing a double feature of “To Have And Have Not” and “Key Largo.” (I mean, what is a couple to do on their honeymoon if there is no movie to see?) Anyway, I was on my honeymoon and fell in love with a MAN (actually a supreme admiration) and that man was Bogie. Both loves have continued to this day.
