Is it gonna have the OG cast members? If so, Iβm in. Oh wait, Harold Ramis is dead. Umm... ApparentlyΒ the entire cast are returning including Sigourney Weaver, Rick Moranis and Annie Potts and Alyssa Milano might even be in it too as Ilyssa since Dan Akroyd said the 2009 game is part of the official continuity and the movie they were planning on making before Harold passed away had Alyssa in it along with Anna Faris, Eliza Dushku and Paul Rudd as Oscar who the original team were training to be the new Ghostbusters. From what I have read they will be going with something very similar but they will be training teenagers to be the new Ghostbusters instead of adults. I am looking forward to seeing it and Dan talked about it in interviews last year and people dismissed him and now it is officially happening and Dan said they were going to explore the Ghost World and some of the more demonic types of ghosts we saw in the game and they were originally supposed to go into the Ghost World in the first movie but they changed his script. Did you know the original scriptΒ Dan wrote for 'Ghostbusters' was a full on serious Horror movie but Hollywood changed into an Action Comedy much like they did with 'The Mask?' I think it works better with some Comedy elements but I would like to see more Horror in this movie like we saw in the 2009 game.Β Β Β Iβd like to see more horror as well. Of course I like to see some comedy too, but this could be the chance to tell a serious GB story. The plot though does sound cliche. How many times have we seen older characters train the younger generation?

As someone who likes the 2016 film, I agree with this open letter and I'm glad to see some people defend the 2016 film. lwlies.com/articles/jason-reitman-ghostbusters-sequel-open-letter/ "Ignoring the 2016 film is a missed opportunity, Hannah Woodhead argues in a piece she wrote for the London-based film magazine Little White Lies titled "An Open Letter to Jason Reitman." She writes that while 2016's Ghostbusters wasn't an original idea, the all-female team pushed the franchise forward in an important way that may be lost in the new version. βI think we suffer from this collective sense of nostalgia in film, where we're always looking to the past rather than the future,β she tells The Hollywood Reporter. βThe past is safe. The past is easy.β" www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/why-is-ghostbusters-3-ignoring-all-female-reboot-1177318 "Cracked contributor Chris Sutcliffe was a fan of Feigβs film and grew up with Ghostbusters. He's more concerned about the direction of the new film under Reitman. βWhat frustrates me about this new film, and I'm very aware that we've had very little news, is how keen they are to distance themselves from the 2016 film," says Sutcliffe. "Not only will it feel like a victory to all the wrong people, but it just feels like a creative step backwards.β"

The 2016 movie acted like the 1984 movie didn't exist and now people are upset that a sequel to the 1984 original will ignore the 2016 reboot?

Eh, seems a bit shallow. I want the real actor playing the real character. I understand, but if they can bring Peter Cushing "back from the dead" to play Gran Moff Tarkin in Rogue One, there's no reason they can't do something similar with Harold Ramis. That's the thing, they couldn't. Tarkin looked like a cut scene character. Though the CG might look more natural with a ghost.

At first I wanted the reboot to be a sequel, but now I'm glad it's just a stand-alone thing. Never understood why there was never a Ghostbusters 3, was it because Murray didn't wanna do it? Look at some of the movies he's made instead. Glad they're making it now, he must have realized it's his legacy so he might as well just accept it.

How many times have we seen older characters train the younger generation? Definitely. I think it would work a lot better if they focused on the Horror elements more this time instead of the Comedy elements like the remake did and give them some scary and interesting ghosts to face. I want to see them face far more demonic ghosts this time and I would love to them bring back Slimer if they made it that he could talk and helps them fight other ghosts like he did in the animated series. I heard he was originally meant to speak in the movies too but they decided against it at the time. You are right about the plot sounding a bit cliche but a lot of movies are cliche these days and do the same things they did before and I think that is the only way they can go with it at this point 'cause they are too old to do all the action scenes unless they make another game or an animated movie.

They could but it seems to be Bill Murray who had the most problem with that and I remember reading in some of his recent interviews about 'Ghostbusters' he said he didn't want to have to spend a lot of time in a gym getting in shape for the role again and the Proton packs they used were very heavy and he felt like he was carrying a ton on his back. I assumed 'cause they weren't real they would have been made of something light but apparently they weren't. Speaking about 'Ghostbusters' I have this update to share.

So why make a new film and act like the 2016 version didn't happen if it's so amazing, Jason?

Reitman says he's "giving this franchise back to the fans". Well, it was never taken away from them. Not even the 2016 film did that. This only strengthens my argument that this new film will play things so safe and familiar as to avoid offending these fans that Reitman claims the franchise was taken away from.

Leslie Jones is all broken up about the fact that it won't be a sequel to that crapfest she was in, saying that it's "insulting". So it's insulting that this movie will ignore that godawful 2016 atrocity, but the fact that her abomination ignored the original classic (and the fans) isn't insulting at all? Wow, makes perfect sense! And everyone who disagrees is a "sexist misogynistic Trump supporter". Flawless logic! Because we desperately really needed a follow up with more scenes of her crying that everyone is against her because of her race and gender and not the fact that she is extremely annoying and unfunny. That would have been way better than a true third film that the fans have been waiting for over thirty years!

You would have to be blind to think it wasn't taken away from fans. This is happening over and over with Star Wars, Ghostbusters, Star Trek Discovery, Marvel, DC, video games, everything guys like is being ruined by SJWs and feminazis.
