This might be unpopular but I actually don't think they should pretend that Batman versus Superman doesn't exist as they trudge along. It'd seem weird. Like it or not, the film was a major part of the original Snyder-Verse, not a simple stand alone story like say the MCU's first ANTMAN was. I'd suggest that they acknowledge the events that occurred in a montage opening similar to The Incredible Hulk or Spider-Man 2. Keep it as backstory but don't make it relevant to the plot at hand. Then they're at liberty to reinterpret either Batman or Superman as they please. It appears that AQUAMAN and WONDER WOMAN have changed the franchise's direction but it'd seem odd not to include their two flagship characters.

Or not. Well that cocks things up.

I don't think they have to acknowledge any previous movies. They should just make a stand alone Superman movie that is true to the source material, but doesn't directly contradict what came before. Those who liked BvS can enjoy it as part of the saga and those who hated BvS can treat it as a stand alone Superman movie.
Of course, the dumbass execs are already preparing to replace him with Supergirl to capitalize on the female hero trend, so we probably won't even be seeing Superman on screen again for who knows how many years.

However long it takes to reach an agreement with Channing Tatum to take the cape now that Gambit is a lost cause.

I'd much rather keep Cavil.

I really do hope Cavill stays. Regardless of how people feel about the films he’s been in, he’s a great choice for Superman. And I don’t want to lose another great supes, like Brandon Routh, just because the movie wasn’t up to par.
And I don’t mind Batfleck either. I wish he’d do a decent Batman flick with Reeves, appeared here and there in other Batfamily movies, then eventually passes the torch to a younger Batman in a few years.

Those who liked BvS can enjoy it as part of the saga and those who hated BvS can treat it as a stand alone Superman movie. ^^THIS^^ but still starring Henry Cavill.
Make a good Superman movie and move on. That's all.
How to ensure its good? Get the script writer to deliver a "heroic" version of the character, and hire a director known for making more "upbeat" films. This way you ensure you wont get a Snyderesque movie. That alone will make it "better" and put Superman back on the right track. They need to. He and Batman are the flagships.
They're afraid for all the wrong reasons. What dragged those movies down was Snyders somber approach. Now that Snyder's gone that shouldn't be a problem anymore. So what are they afraid of?
Its not rocket science. Shit, I'll do it! Let me at it!

Exactly! I swear studio execs are the dumbest, least qualified bunch of asshats on the planet. I know they blame the character for the DCEU's misses, instead of simply realizing that it was this misguided attempt to make "darker" Superman movies. The original plan was to do a Superman trilogy, but when MoS failed to make a billion they canceled the plans and doubled down on Snyder's vision, when they should've fired Snyder and continued the solo films.

PLEASE. DO. SOMETHING. DIFFERENT. 9 out of 10 times I would agree with you. But this is Superman and Batman. You don't give up on those. So much stems from those two characters when you're talking DC. This is an imperative.
