I use to drink iced tea by the gallon but have lost the taste for it in recent years.

I wish I could make it like they do in England. When I was over there many years ago one criticism they had of Americans was that we could not make tea properly and they were right. I have not had a good cup of tea since then. The best tea I ever had though was in a Thai restaurant. It was iced tea with sugar and I think it had coconut milk and I have no idea what else. I have tried and failed to make that properly as well.

Very many herbal teas, but no black tea.

I've been drinking a lot of tea in the past 2 years, I drink one of the many flavors of Celestial Seasonings herbal tea and I also like Bigelow French Vanilla tea. I use to like plain old Lipton tea but it doesn't seem as flavorful anymore. When I was in the U.K. a few decades ago, I thought the tea was ok as long as there was no milk in it but I would never go to all that trouble making one cup of tea, my Aunt used to make tea "British Style" but she had to go to specialty stores to get the loose tea.

Now you can order almost any kind of tea online.

I drink two mugs of tea every workday - usually green tea.
I love unsweetened ice tea but unfortunately it is not as widely available here in Canada as it is in the USA. Ice tea here is usually from a can or from a bottle, which are always sweetened.

You can easily make your own mug of unsweetened iced tea, just make 1/2 mug of hot tea then fill the other half with ice cubes, after the first bunch of ice cubes melt, put some more cubes in the mug. I do this all the time in the summer when I want iced tea.

I like black teas (Earl Grey, English Breakfast, and Irish Breakfast teas are all great). I always make it from bulk (loose leaf) tea. No bags ever. It's NOT hard to make: boil some water in a little stainless pan or pot, add adequate amount of loose leaf tea leaves, remove from heat and let it steep for 3 minutes, give it a stir, then pour through a fine-mesh strainer into a cup or tea pot, depending on how much you made. Enjoy.
Nowadays, many U.S. grocery stores have bulk tea sections where you can easily find the loose-leaf tea varieties.
Also: I don't have any problem with disposing of the spent tea leaves. I toss them out in flower beds or right on my lawn, let them mulch back into Nature.

I do make my own unsweetened iced tea by the jar sometimes - I just pour boiling water into a large pan with two tea bags, let it cool down, then transfer it to a jar and put it in the fridge.

I do. I have 4-5 cups a day. I'm having one right now. We buy a few different kinds of tea, liberate them from their teabags, mix them and make our own. Been doing it for decades. For the most part, I'll drink anybody's coffee anywhere, but 99% of the tea I drink is in my house and there's maybe 3 people in the world I trust to make it.

Most green teas are harsh and not smoothly tasting, true.
