It really all depends on Joker. If it’s the Taxi Driver of comic book movies then it’s not going to really matter how well reviewed all three MCU films are. Joker won't matter. It is its own thing. It will have no baring on the rest of the DCEU. The question wasn’t MCU vs DCEU it was MCU vs DC.

Virtually all movies are a part of the DCEU. If this movie is a financial and critical success, but the DCEU continues to be so-so, you can't honestly say DC would be winning.

The question wasn’t MCU vs DCEU it was MCU vs DC. Outside of this one lone film, there is no "DC". Virtually all movies are a part of the DCEU. If this movie is a financial and critical success, but the DCEU continues to be so-so, you can't honestly say DC would be winning. Wait what? So the Joker isn't DC because it's not DCEU and if it's the most successful film of all time in the history of the world and wins every major Oscar it wouldn't be winning because future DCEU movies might suck?
I mean... I don't believe any of that is going to happen and I'm an MCU mega-fan... but that just seems silly. If the Joker is as good as people think it's going to be and it gets some serious awards attention and Joaquin Phoenix gets nominated for an Oscar then.. yeah.. I would say that DC would win pretty huge for the critical acclaim of 2019.
Remember.. this is about MCU vs DC for Critical Acclaim in 2019. This isn't about the MCU as a whole or the DCEU as whole. The question was about critical acclaim in 2019 when it comes to MCU properties vs DC properties.
If Joker was up against Black Panther which got nominated for Best Picture vs Joaquin Phoenix getting nominated for Best Actor then maybe I'd say.. no.. they have no chance.
But this is about Joker vs Captain Marvel, Endgame, and Far From Home. All of those MCU films, which I happen to love with all my heart, but I can't imagine getting any nominations in any major categories at the Oscars. Would I be happy if they did? Hell yeah. But as of right now.. Joker seems like the better bet to get that kind of Academy Award critical acclaim.
Is it possible that the film won't be good at all and won't garner any positive attention? Of course. But to think that it might not do better critically than any of the MCU films this year is just a bit close-minded.
