is so much depended on the coin toss. Once Patriots won the coin toss, you know a great chance they will win it. I think the other team should be given a possession to comeback. I know the game is grueling. Maybe this adjustment is for the playoff only. What others think?

Defense. It's part of the game.

I really don't mind it the way it is.

Defense. It's part of the game. It sure is. So both teams should have to play it.

I agree with your basic thought - - I think it all comes back to how many rules have been made to help the offense overall. But, yeah, I was sure the Patriots were going to win it as soon as they won the toss.

I agree. When you have two unstoppable offenses at the end of regulation, the coinflip determines the winner. How many OTs has Aaron Rodgers not even gotten on the field.
The other team should get a possession and have to go for 2 after a TD. If both teams go for 2 and get it, the game continues.

ESPN just pointed out that KC did not have a possession in OT. It just doesn't sound good to me, and unfair.

Didn't Drew Brees win the coin toss today?

Just like two years ago when MVP Matt Ryan was forced to watch on the sideline as Tom Brady marched down the field after the Pats won the coin toss.

While I love football, I often use this point in my argument that baseball is a superior sport. Like crying... There's no coin tosses in baseball! They really should just let the home team go first.

How many third and longs did the Patriots have in OT that KC didn't stop? Stop one of those and they get the ball. Hold them to a field goal and they get the ball. Give up a TD and too fucking bad, they didn't stop them. The Rams won in OT and lost the OT toss.

They already adjusted the rules to where a field goal on first possession doesn't win overtime (which was totally unnecessary, by the way, since statistics showed the team who won the coin toss in sudden death did not win overtime more than the team who lost the coin toss).
Now you want to make it to where a touchdown on first possession doesn't win overtime either? It's ridiculous. You have to be able to play DEFENSE.

So far in this thread I've seen Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, & Matt Ryan listed.
NFL football still isn't fully a QB only party game, yet.

Didn't Drew Brees win the coin toss today? True. However, when you have Tom Brady, or any player in a hot streak, as you QB, a coin toss win is almost as good as a win.

And they were plays requiring pinpoint accuracy by the QB and great catches because the defense was there. They earned this victory.
And I am not a fan of either team.

Not having a possession is like in baseball the road team score in extra inning and the game is over without the home team a chance to answer back.

The other team should get a possession and have to go for 2 after a TD. If both teams go for 2 and get it, the game continues. They don't have to go for 2 or prolong the game. Just make it a beat the clock situation. If the team winning the coin flip scores a TD on their 1st drive in OT in let's say 6:30 seconds, then give the team losing the kickoff 6:29 seconds to score a TD. If they do, then they win. If they don't, then they lose. That way, both teams are guaranteed of at least 1 possession in OT and the game doesn't continue forever.

That home team had the chance to not allow the road team to score via pitching & defense. 21st century... weird wild stuff.
