I spent 20 minutes with Buffalo Bob Smith of Howdy Doody fame. He was incredibly polite and accommodating.

a colleague met up with Denzel Washington and his wife while attending an African heritage play. he was 'so rude to her' she says.
she kept on asking for an autograph during the intermission.
when he said no [because I told her the night was not about him] she said he was being rude.
so I said to her he was probably not wanting the attention because the evening is not about him. now I am rude too!
I met Rudy Giuliani back in 1998 or so. he was attending the removal of an overpass that was being overseen by my father. He was awesome.

Not a direct interaction, but when Catman was a young tom, the family was dining in a Perkins when Kenny Rogers and a few of his folks came in. Rogers picked up the tab for everyone.

I made eye contact with Mila Kunis once when she was walking around incognito in my small neighborhood downtown restaurant area one afternoon. This was right around 2013 or something when she was Esquire's "Sexiest Woman Alive". She noticed I recognized her, and hopefully thought I was good looking. She didn't recoil in horror, vomit, or stick up her middle finger. So that was a win. At the time my good friend was a little obsessed with how hot she was and even had the magazine on his coffee table. I texted him to tell him the story and he didn't believe me. He asked me what she was wearing, which was baggy light denim overalls with a black and white striped t-shirt underneath. So he looked up celebrity sighting stalker pictures online, and the most recent pictures of her at an airport were wearing the same exact thing. I always took the opportunity to remind him that I have gotten further with Mila Kunis than he has.

If your not a Pittsburgh Steelers fan you probably won't know who I am talking about. Me, my girlfriend at the time and another guy, his wife and their son were at a mall called The Mall at Robinson (near Pittsburgh). I say to my friend hey I think that's James Harrison (linebacker for Steelers). It was. So my friend gets up the courage and asks him for an autograph for his son. He could not have been nicer. He said what do you want me to sigh. He said how about my sons hat. He sighed his name and drew a pic of a football beside his name.

George Takei was kind of a dick. I went to his play about Japanese internment camps in WW2 and waited outside for a pic, where it was pretty godd*mn cold. He told me "he only takes candids" while clearly posing with the Asian people around me. Meh.
Billy Zane was pretty nice. Was an extra in a scene with him and he was the one making conversation with us.

They were an absolute pleasure to meet.

Julius Erving (Dr. J) said “alright” to me when I thanked him for his autograph, years ago. I met Julius in '77 outside my apartment ( he was staying in a luxury apartment on the across the street, and heading to Philly for preseason). Julius WAS MY GOD, and a friend of mine saw and called out, so we went to meet him. I was in shock. My friend told Julius what a big fan of his, and I said "I'm one of your biggest fans" and he shook my hand. My friend started a conversation with him, and all I wanted to do was get the fuck out of there. I was embarassed because it was so obvious how much I was in AWE of this man. Then Julius & Co. got in there van, and it was over. I think I was still shaking as the van drove off.
