In contrast to the worst endings thread, what shows do you think had the best?
Breaking Bad The Office US Six Feet Under The Shield

Six Feet Under and The Shield are the best options here. Also liked Justified, The Sopranos (yeah, sue me), Mad Men, Star Trek: The Next Generation/Deep Space Nine.

Breaking Bad Mad Men (absolutely brilliant) Battlestar Galactica The Americans I never watched The Shield but everyone always raves about it. I hope to check it out someday. Also, I know people will inevitably come on here raving about the Sons of Anarchy ending and how great it was. I felt it was so forced, so cliched, so against the entire story and character arcs it had established in the final 2 seasons that it actually made me annoyed. I was never a huge fan of the show to begin with, but the ending just left a really sour taste in my mouth.

The ST:DS9 finale was good for the first 90 minutes (when it dealt with the conclusion of the war), but the last 30 minutes just dragged on too long.

One of my favorite series finale's would be White Collar. Just so happens to also be my favorite show ever. They were forced to rush/shorten the final season but at least they got that final season and they still managed to pull off a great finale.
For me it's rare for a finale to be great or for me to even make it to the finale. I'll either get bored of a show and never finish it (ex: Psych) or I'll just hate the finale all together (ex: Lost).

Blackadder BBad Sopranos
A bit worried about how Better Call Saul and Ray Donovan will end. Saul ending up making burgers is not the way to off a legend and Ray might just get offed by his father

The Naked Truth was a pretty unremarkable tv series, but I'll never forget the finale where the entire main cast drift off to oblivion in a hot air balloon.

I think the Mad Men ending was brilliant....Don Draper got the inspiration for perhaps the most iconic commercial ever while hiding out on a hippie commune. Genius!
But, the Six Feet Under finale cannot be topped. I mean, showing every major character to their eventual deaths is a finale to end all finales. Nothing left to be said.

My top 4:
Twelve Monkeys. Just about perfect finale to the criminally under-watched sci-fi serious. There were a ton of strands to untangle in the wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey show and the makers did so expertly while also giving the audience a genuinely emotionally satisfying ending.
Ashes to Ashes. What a way to go out. It actually made me well up and get a lump in my throat on more than one occasion. The gruff luddite that is Gene Hunt is shown to be the hero we all knew he was . Great stuff.
Six Feet Under. This was just about note perfect in its ending but they had to (almost) ruin it with Keith's arc. His future cheapo sci-fi looking security get up was so hilarious it took me right out of the, otherwise brilliant, closing montage.
The Sopranos. I know this is hated by many but for me it worked really well. Perhaps it was because I only watched the show a few years after it had finished and was (kind of) aware of the closing scene. I thought it had a real emotional punch and the finality (and futility) of it all really hammered home the effect the extremely selfish lifestyle lived by Tony Soprano had had on those around him. Plus I never listened to Don't Stop Believing in the same way from then on.
