So you know that Skittles launched a White packet with white skittles in it in support of London Pride? The idea being "Only one rainbow matters this Pride" Ooh, people aren't happy.

If it hadn't been for that she likely would have found something else to dissent.
Personally, I never cared for the term "white trash" because it subtly implies that all non-white people are trash, and some white people too.

On the old board one of your comrades called me white trash because I said I was born in Florida and now reside in Alabama. He lives in Cape Cod, where he does not have to rub shoulders with white trash like me. If my sister in New Zealand comes back from her banishment I am sure she will remember it. I am in touch with her by email. She is undecided about coming back on April 4.

Just a couple of points 1) I don't have comrades so do not know, nor care who you are speaking of 2) what does your post have to do with the OP as no one mentioned white trash. So please clarify why you went off on a tangent. 3) I don't doubt your story ever happened so am not really bothered on what Awhina does or does not remember as it bears no relation to the op 4) Awhinas return also has nothing to do with the thread.

While I personally don't get the reasoning behind getting rid of the whole color scheme as a sign of "Pride"... (I do assume that they meant it as the combination of all colors in one.)
...but... Dear God, people. They choose the color white... It has nothing to do with race.
It's just a stupid ad campaign..

They have little black S's on them which means that these are really black Skittles anyway.

If all the colors of the rainbow joined together (like the colors of the candy) white would be the result. If anything I think anti racism or unity is supposed to be the message, but I'm not sure it came across clearly.

If we're talking about light, then white is the combination color, but with paint (subtractive coloring) you get black.

True but if I recall correctly Skittles markets itself as all the colors of the rainbow-taste the rainbow. I think light is what they are going for (even though that's not what their candy is coated with.)

If we're talking about light, then white is the combination color, but with paint (subtractive coloring) you get black. You actually don't get black with paint. If you mix paints together you should get black? No, because paints are coloured by pigments. Each non-black pigment particle in the mix reflects some fraction of light. The only way the paint could look black (i.e., reflect none of the light) is if all of the particles are black. Tinting paint is a complex process and it very much depends on the 'base' paint. All the paint manufacturers have many different 'base paints' to get true colours and they have varying amounts of titanium dioxide ( the whitener for pastel colours) and less of this substance for darker colours. If you talk about printing and tinters, it is different again and this is the reason that black printing ink has black tinter as well as the other three colours to 'make black' because it doesn't make pure black. Mixed paints make a sludge grey/brown.

It is not about race or whiteness it's simple. The rainbow is the sign of gay pride. Skittles slogan is follow the rainbow. They are stating that the only rainbow to follow is that of pride so have made the skittles white so you only follow one rainbow.
It's really very simple.

I can't see anything about London on the package. It just looks like an ordinary package of skittles of one particular color.

Well, the trouble is that "skittles" are contagious.

Is it weird that they look better to me now.
Cleaner and more able to support a family?
Maybe that's just me.

Yeah, but the mayonnaise flavor is disgusting.
Plus, White Skittles s going to blame Colored Skittles for being limited edition.
