Yes, yes, fawning this thread will be. Took a break from me Marvel movies this weekend to revisit this relentlessly fast paced sci-fi epic. It might have been the Kubrick, could have been the Ganja. Not sure what the best shot in this movie is.

The breathing audio truly puts this sequence over the top for me. Intensity & fragility.

I love this film. Hal is terrifying. I've had nightmares about the scene with him cutting Poole's hose and letting him fly off into space.
Another scene that always stuck with me is the lip reading scene. There is something so ominuous and disturbing about it, the way we watch the movement of their lips and Hal's all-seeing eye.

Also one of the greatest casting jobs in history. So tempting to make HAL-9000 more insidious in appearance and voice than it was. Perfect with just the glowing dot and Douglas Rain's sweet voice.
