Interesting list, a good balance of old and newer horror movies alike. I don't really consider Salo a horror film, but whatever.

There’s a nice variety to the list. And a couple neat surprises too.

pretty good. There's a dozen or so excellent titles that I would consider debatable in terms of genre, but these days defining horror - like it or lump it - seems to be more and more a subjective call, rather than an objective appraisal of generic validity. In other words, anything goes.
otherwise...
out the babadook, the mist, god told me to, get out, society, salo, the orphanage, invasion of the body snatchers (1978), wolf creek, switchblade romance, the beyond, lake mungo, REC, the descent, the changeling, let the right one in
in near dark, i walked with a zombie, house of wax (1953), nosferatu (1979), deathdream (1974), the hills have eyes (1977), the brood, island of lost souls (1932), house of usher (1960), the invisible man (1933), candyman, the black cat (1934), daughters of darkness (1971), the mummy (1932), brain damage (1988), the stepfather (1987)
not seen a quiet place, hereditary

No Killer Klowns From Outer Space? This is an outrage!

I certainly agree with their #1 choice. There is no film like it.

That’s actually a pretty solid list, though I wouldn’t put any of them in that order.
Also, they got the years wrong for some of them. Carrie in ‘82? Dawn of the Dead in ‘74?

I really question some of those films categorized as Horror. The Others and The Sixth sense are not horror film IMO. Don't Look Now always makes these lists but that is more psychological thriller IMO.

I just don't think those films are trying to be scary.

Some of them are not horror movies. But at least its not an extremely cliche list.

The Exorcist: one of my fave horror films. The Shining: definitely. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: definitely. Silence of the Lambs: not quite a horror film but a thriller but classic. Alien: yes, best sci-fi horror film ever. Psycho: Definitely. The Thing: definitely and on par with Alien. Rosemary's Baby: Yes. Halloween: Absolutely. Jaws: YES. Dawn of the Dead: YES. Suspiria: YES definitely. Night of the Living Dead: I liked the 1990 remake better and the sequels. Don't Look Now: Good movie. The Innocents: Good movie. An American Werewolf in London: Hell yeh! Carrie: Definitely. The Fly: of course. Evil Dead 2: Groovy. The Descent: Yupper. Get Out: one of 2017's best films. Let the Right One In: Meh, Fright Night, Lost Boys, Near Dark etc are better vampire films even Thirst. A Nightmare on Elm Street: HELL YES! one of my faves. Audition: weak, that torture scene was definitely horrific. The Haunting: a masterpiece.
To be continued later

Yeah, that might be fair. I just don't think those films are trying to be scary. Then why did it (Sixth Sense) traumatize 9 year old me? Because you didn't follow the suggested rating system! Which part scared you? It didn't scare me, buy the Munchausen by proxy mother gives me the creeps every time I see it. She was worse than any of the ghosts.
