Interview With The Vampire Billy Madison Big Daddy Queen Of The Damned Little Nicky Wedding Crashers 40-year Old Virgin
just to name a few ^
I've been surfing twitter and I cant believe there are folks out there actually looking forward to a Childs Play remake. Annabelle 3. Toy Story 4. and a fast & furious spinoff.

Those movies are picked over films like Goodfellas, Terminator 2, Silence of the Lambs, Schindler's List, Jurassic Park, Heat, Saving Private Ryan, The Matrix, LOTR trilogy, etc.?

For a list of so called good movies, that's suspiciously Adam Sandler heavy.

Do you think the Child's Play franchise should rest in peace? i'm so burned out on the franchise after seeing the last 4 films turning the character into a joke no thanks to that dipshit Don Mancini who's killed the franchise, the last enjoyable CP movie to me was CP 3 and now they have a remake and TV show in the works, this horse is long dead and has been dead for a long time, it's like a reanimated zombie that needs to be shot in the head so it won't shuffle around searching for new life. I'm so tired of the worn out horror icons like Freddy Krueger (the remake was awful and you CAN'T DO IT, Robert Englund IS Freddy Krueger!), Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers, Pinhead, Jigsaw, Ghostface, Leatherface etc. and their franchises coming back! they are already dead and have been dead for a long time as it's time to let their franchises rest in peace, as i just don't wanna see these horror icons on the big screen over and over again, i mean your just gonna get diminishing returns. Can we have new horror icons already, let these older ones rest in peace in favor of new icons! While i'm no fan of The Conjuring spin-offs, at least they are trying something different, well not necessarily different, i mean it's not the same horror icons i've already seen and same horror franchises i've already seen and they are trying to create their own mainstream horror icons and giving it an effort.

I thought The Curse of Chucky was legit creepy, but we don't need a reboot of the franchise. They're doing a TV show and I have no idea how they're going to do it without making Chucky a protagonist.

To each their own, i thought Curse of Chucky was a shitty unscary poorly written film with dislikable characters and i agree with Ocpcommunications's hilarious rant/review on the film that it's awful like Seed! I mean Bride was mediocre when it was trying something but falls flat on it's face, i feel the franchise ran it's course after 3 and the other sequels are just spin-offs starring Chucky. I just feel this franchise is dead! it's time to move on and make new horror icons and new franchises.

The 2000's is the best overall decade straight up if you ask me and the 2010's is still pretty solid overall even though from 2016 to date it's been noticeably weaker than usual. p.s. for the record... out of those you listed, I think only Interview with the Vampire (1994) is of any real worth. charzhinoGiven the volume of movies I gave a 7/10 or higher in each year... it was 2015 for me as from 2016 to date is when things really declined overall and I don't see things returning to even 2014 levels soon either as putting 2016 to date aside, 2014 is my next weakest year of the current decade. in fact, here is the basic volume of 7/10's or higher I have given out in each respective year of the current decade... 2010 - 8 movies 2011 - 9 movies 2012 - 8 movies 2013 - 8 movies 2014 - 5 movies 2015 - 8 movies 2016 - 1 movie 2017 - 1 movie 2018 - 2 movies (but I am not done with 2018 yet so there is a chance that might hit 3-4 if I am lucky) so as you can see, at least for me personally, it was 2016 were the solid hit took place and don't seem to be recovering either. prior to 2016, things have been pretty consistent overall even though there was a slight dip in 2014 for me but compared to 2016+, 2014 looks pretty great as I would take 2014 by itself over 2016 through 2018 combined so far. p.s. there is only 3 movies I scored a 9/10 in the current decade and ZERO 10/10's as my most recently released 10/10 movie is Gran Torino (2008).

The last prolific period of good movies: 1994-1995. There were a lot of future "classics" for just about everyone:
Forrest Gump Pulp Fiction Muriel's Wedding Ed Wood Clerks Speed Toy Story Babe The Shawshank Redemption Crumb Eat Drink Man Woman Sense and Sensibility Quiz Show The Mask Braveheart Hoop Dreams Apollo 13 To Die For Chungking Express Clueless The Naked Gun 33 1/3 The Lion King
I'm sure there are more that I'm leaving off, depending on people's tastes. At any rate, movies in this period had more to offer than superhero junk food.

It all went downhill during the late 90's. Sure some good films were made in the last 20 years but the quality, professionalism and real passion stopped in exchange for lazy cgi and green tinting like the Matrix films. After 9/11 the mentality of the film goer and filmmaker changed and there was no going back.

early-mid 1970s
Harry and Tonto Nashville One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest Network A Woman Under The Influence Harold and Maude McCabe and Mrs. Miller Fat City The Conversation A Clockwork Orange
The Godfather Mikey and Nicky Annie Hall The Last Detail Taxi Driver Chinatown Five Easy Pieces Last Tango In Paris Godfather II Joe
Minnie and Moskowitz Straw Dogs Opening Night Barry Lyndon Manhattan A Special Day Sounder The Blue Hotel Autumn Sonata Zandy's Bride Lies My Father Told Me The Working-Class Goes To Heaven Dog Day Afternoon Paper Moon Alice in the Cities Serpico
I could keep going on by my wrists are hurting with all these movies (and scenes) entering my head, trying to keep up typing. There were multiple masterpieces every weekend back then! I wish I was born then, but the advantage now is that I can watch them all without paying a dime.

There are a few late 90s-early 2000s movies I like. BREAKDOWN, THE SCORE, but not much else. Not only did the corporation movies get more bland, but there was no lower budget indie films to turn to. Thus I think the 60s remains the best overall decade for global cinema variety. Horror, spy, monster, adventure, western, pirate, giallo, etc. It is a weak time for the backlot Hollywood studios until the later half of the 60s but the edge still goes to the indies and foreign.
