I never realized that She's All That was considered a classic back in the 1990's. The whole article being based on a mediocre teen movie and why it is "problematic" today is ridiculous. Who cares about She's All That? Seriously. Why did you bold that particular line for? Random. And who considers that movie a classic? Well I guess it could be a classic in a way. A classic cast of actors. Also a classic example of how not to write a movie.
I am saying I don't understand why anyone would bother writing an article about how problematic a movie that isn't even liked in the first place is. If it were a classic or a well liked movie that could be seen as problematic these days then writing an article about it would make sense. I put your first sentence in bold because I agree that the writer of the article is a hack. The fact that the writer mentions the Brittany Spears movie Crossroads tells me that they are completely out of touch.

But yeah, not a classic. I didn't even see it until like 2016 or 2017 or so when I randomly chose it on one of the streaming services. I likely knew next to nothing about it and only watched it for the people in it.

Isn't it a modern-day version of PYGMALION/MY FAIR LADY? If so, isn't that movie/play problematic too?

What was a shit movie in 1999 is a shit move in 2019. Pretty much this. The most disturbing thing about this is that anyone considered it classic enough to be worth analyzing 20 years later, lol. If you're going to pick apart shitty teen movie sterotypes at least do it with The Breakfast Club or Pretty in Pink.

It was the 90s. Pre-PC era. It was fun. I miss it actually.
Girls and guys wanted to see Freddie Prince Jr. and Paul Walker topless.
Guys and Lesbians wanted to see half naked cheerleaders and beach bodies.
Damn, it was just a teen film for fun. People care too much nowadays. I love Oscar worthy acting and arthouse films, but damn it, sometimes I want to escape to mind numbing fun and just be entertained. I don't need bright and deep women characters and gentlemen with intelligent wit. Sometimes I just want to see some boobs and laugh.

I remember watching it once with a friend when it first came out and we didn't like it and have never watched it again. There were a number of Teen Comedy movies like that in the late 90s and early 00s and they were all dreadful especially 'American Pie'and 'Road Trip.'
