Worthy of a biographical treatment. yeah but they would probably mess with it like they do so many "biographical" movies …. think The Greatest Showman and ohhhhhhhhhhhhh too many others to list on second thought ,,,,, A Documentary with lots and lots of clips would be VERY nice though !

Sorry, no clips just yet -- but here is a 20-minute all-audio biography
Too bad they didn't get someone like Sam Elliott to narrate it, though

My fave serial -- DAREDEVILS OF THE RED CIRCLE (1939), with SPY SMASHER (1942) and KING OF THE ROYAL MOUNTED (1940) close behind. All three from Republic, who made the best serials. My fave "serial": Cheerios! ;-)

There is a 10 minute tribute to Yakima Canutt in the Bonus Features on Criterion Collection's issue of STAGECOACH. I wish it was longer but it's a decent appreciation of this legendary man.

Olin also memorable as the stern and cruel schoolmaster in THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER I'll always remember the scene in that movie where Tom was brutally whipped by that sadistic schoolmaster, taking the punishment that was meant for Becky Thatcher. Sort of a forerunner to the scene in HOW GREEN WAS MY VALLEY, where Huw is similarly beaten by the schoolmaster. Surprisingly, the school bully, with whom Huw had previously clashed, proved himself a sympathetic character by having Huw bite on his handkerchief in order to prevent him from screaming, which would please the sadistic SOB. I guess that the bully received identical punishment in the past. Soon afterwards, Huw's relatives beat that POS schoolmaster into a bloody pulp! I say--good!

In 1939 (same year as the STAGECOACH stunt) he performed a similar one in the Republic serial ZORRO'S FIGHTING LEGION. For that one he was run over by a stagecoach and then climbed up the back to confront the bad guys. Spielberg paid homage to it in RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK. Here it is:

Canutt also did a transfer from horse to truck in ZORRO RIDES AGAIN 1937-which was replicated in RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK.

Kevin Brownlow's Hollywood documentary (Part 5, "Hazards of the Game") has some about Canutt and other silent stuntmen.
