Any fans of the "Dookie" album by Green Day? How has it held up after 25 years? I remember this album being a big deal when I was in middle school. It had a lot of attention on radio and MTV. This was the album that put Green Day on the map thanks to songs like Longview, Basket Case, When I Come Around, She and Welcome to Paradise. A lot of these songs are still played today. I don't know if it's the best album from Green Day, but it's certainly one of their best and set the standard for the band.

Back when I used to work music retail, I had heard of Green Day even before "Dookie" was released. All of the skaters used to listen to Green Day when they were on Lookout! Records.
Then, it was announced they had been signed to Reprise Records.
I remember when I first started university, "Basket Case" was REALLY popular. I had also heard "Longview". I also do like "Burnout" (first track).
Awesome album! In fact, in 1994, it was a toss-up as to which CD and/or cassette sold the most for the Christmas season:
Dookie, or Smash by The Offspring.
It was pretty much an even split - MAYBE Dookie selling a little bit more than Smash.

I remember when this album came out. Pop-punk hadn't yet exploded, so Green Day didn't sound like anything else on the radio in 1994.

It's fitting that an album titled Dookie peaked at #2 on the charts.

Loved it when it first came out. The music and video for longview had a pretty big impact on me. Nowadays though their music strikes me as boring and I will often wince when it comes up on shuffle.

I don't love the album as a whole, but I think BASKET CASE is one of the best rock songs (of any sub-genre) ever.
