I think one of the great things about the film that rarely gets talked about - is it's the epic story of man finding what's truly important in life - shows a leopard can change it's spots....
That atmosphere of the movie is terrific (not being a homer) since I'm from Pennsylvania.
Another similar gem (atmosphere wise in 'Amish/Country/Hillbilly PA) that never gets talked about with a Christmas theme - 'Trapped in Paradise' (Paradise is a real town in PA) with Nicholas Cage, Jon Lovitz, Dana Carvey - centers around a small town atmosphere that wins over tourists/thieves ....... (kudos to Doc Hollywood too with Michael J Fox and Funny Farm with Chevy Chase)

Nice to see somebody has heard of it. Dude - it actually has a very real feel to it. Paradise, PA is the very Western Burbs of Philly in Lancaster County about 1 hour and 30 minutes or so West depending where on your at in the city. It's kind of 'Amish Country' to an extent. There is tourism - but everybody is so laid back, peaceful, family driven, polite - it's like another world. Beautiful. Very scenic and country looking for PA with lots of farms and open land. Love that movie. |
