I question Bret Easton Ellis' existence. He's a dick who managed to somehow mesmerize a generation of incels stuck in adolescent with one vacuous novel.
"This is not an exit."

Black Panther isn't a great movie and it might be a stretch to even call it very good, but it is above average. Not really worthy of a best pic nom and definitely shouldn't win the 'best pic' of the year Oscar but it wouldn't be the first time something/someone unworthy wins. Didn't one of the LOTR movies win a dozen or so Oscars?

So it's a title
And it's entertainment.
That's all
You all put too much effort into this.
Remember How Green Was My Valley won best picture over Citizen Kane.
It really is less important than you all make it out to be.

The LOTR movies shouldn't have been nominated for as many awards as they were, let alone won. Adapted screenplay twice? Really?

Most don't even care about the nomination or agree it's not Oscar-worthy. You and a select few of other DC trolls are the only ones perpetuating the notion that Marvel fans are bragging about it when in reality you guys are the only ones bitching and moaning about it.

Exactly! I seldom see a MCU fan bragging about this. I am not bragging about it, even if I'm happy about it. But watching the DC trolls going into full meltdown mode and tasting their salty tears is like Nirvana.
Deserved, undeserved? Merit, without merit? Who cares! Cry a thousand rivers all you want, no one can change the fact that Black Panther is the first CBM to be nominated for best picture at the Oscars. After we all are dead and buried, a hundred years into the future, the fact that Black Panther was the first CBM to be nominated as such will remain, and there is nothing you can do about it, NoThInG!

What’s wrong with LotR? It's 9(?) hours long. It's a boring story. I don't care about most of the characters. It's magical fantasy. Dark CGI. I wasn't a kid when they came out.

the problem is not people like him. the problem is with mcu fans who wants to try and convince themselves black panther did it on merit. Is "merit" not subjective? On some level, all judgments of merit are based on human preference. The academy members either voted for Black Panther because they liked the film or because they know the awards themselves are fast losing relevance with their intended audience. The academy is moving away from judgments that are solely about aesthetics and execution to judgments surrounding social relevance and topicality. The world is changing. Craft and artistry are perceived as a part of a set of values associated with old-world elitism. Most people outside of film-nerd circles honestly can't recognize what makes a film technically good and, wouldn't care about it even if they could. They care about what speaks to them on a more human level. The Academy isn't lowering its standards. They are changing them.

It's 9(?) hours long. It's a boring story. I don't care about most of the characters. It's magical fantasy. Dark CGI. I wasn't a kid when they came out. I wasn’t a kid when they came out either and still regard the trilogy as a defining movie achievement for that generation of film makers. The CGI looks dated now, granted as it pertains to Gollum, but at the time was one of the greatest manifestations of cgi. 9 hrs too boring? I love the extended cuts even more! I would have visited that world for twice as long (no - the Hobbit doesn’t count!). You tip your bias as soon as you throw out that it is dark fantasy as a mark against it. So what? It tells an entertaining story that is as immersive as any world depicted on screen at the time and to date. I have mixed feelings about the Black Panther nomination (generally am happy for it - it isn’t that big a stretch to argue its merits) but will absolutely not stand for a lotr besmirching!
