I find that guy's recommendation to be hit and miss. He had some awesome tips for Barcelona but his "off the beaten path" recommendations for Paris and Nice were horseshit. agree. His French stuff is weak. What do you like in Nice? I did my study abroad there so I just enjoyed being in the city. The old quarter, climbing that crazy hill every day to get to class (well, on the days I went anyway), spending every afternoon on the pebble beaches, just a great city in close proximity to TONS of awesome places (Cannes, Cap d'Antibbes (I have no idea how to spell it), Monaco, etc.). But his recommendations were for all this stuff that was more Americanized and I really didn't like it. I love Paris too, been there a few times, but his recs were blehh.

Will was a solid player but he falls far short of being a HOFer. Kent was one of the greatest second baseman ever. If he put up those numbers with the Yankees he would have been a first balloter. The fact his vote totals are so low right now shows they need to revamp the voting process.

Solid player. Worthy of number retired? Not remotely? The Giants used to be one of the few teams left who would only retired HOFers numbers. Then when they retired Bonds, that all changed. Now with Clarks' number retired, that opens the door for a whole slew of good but not great playres getting their numbers retired. Totally cheapens the honor.

I like what the Phillies do, where they have a Wall of Fame, where players such as Darren Daulton and Garry Maddox are honored, and then retired numbers, for the elite. Thus far there are only 5 retired numbers not including Jackie Robinson, and they are all Hall of Famers. I suspect Jimmy Rollins might one day get his retired as well. The Wall of Fame has a ton of names but almost none of them would be worthy of the higher honor of number retirement.

Why doesnβt Kent have the stink of PEDs? His best seasons were in SF at the height of the BALCO years. When all these Bay Area athletes are being tarnished by PED use, somehow even the most fervent Anti-PED crusaders support Kent. This is playing out above in this thread.

The requirement was you must have been a great player and played for at least six years. This covers all the good but not great players like Clark. I was suprrised to see them retiring his number. Pretty lame. Pretty soon the Giants will be like the Astros and Padres, who retired a few guys numbers who do not deserve to be retired, just for the sake of having retired number and the thing is, the Giants had a lot of HOF retired numbers already. So now it's Marichel, Mays, McCovey and Clark. Wow.

If Clark had been a Giants lifer, and still didn't make the Hall but had basically teh career he did, I probably wouldn't have put up as much a fight as I do right now but he's never going to come close to gettig in the hall and spent half his career with teh Giants, it's ridiculous to retire his number, it's like putting Harold Baines in teh hall, it's going to open the door for a slew of people who don't deserve it. Clark was a solid player but not worthy of a number retiring.
