Is this Realmuto guy any good? I mean is he worth giving up the farm for him? He must be good if the Marlins are getting rid of him, but it’s not like he’s Johnny Bench.

I don't get to watch him play everyday, but I suspect he is like a Jorge Posada level catcher. Probably better defensively.

He's probably the best all-around catcher in the game today when you factor in his offensive and defensive ability. Whether he's "worth" giving up the farm is a matter of conjecture. If you're the Phils, do you upgrade at the position now, or do you ride it out with Alfaro for now and save those prospects for the deadline when you may want to upgrade elsewhere when you're (presumably) in the playoff hunt?

The Phillies are apparently now willing to include Sixto Sanchez, their one blue chip prospect. Here’s why I want to keep him - he will either turn into Pedro Martinez, or he can be used to pry Mike Trout from the Angels. Not sure any catcher is worth that, even though the Philliesneed one.

just listened to them talk about this on WIP and figured they were going after Trout after all the names being dropped.
hopefully this move persuades machado/harper....

Wow, Derek Jeter is really turning the Marlins in the right direction. I can see a WC by, well maybe as early as 2038.

Well the Fish will be even worse this year. It’s unbelievable how bad Jeter is making the team, he may be worse than Loria, I just hope that we can be competitive in a few years. Realmuto is a great addition for the Phillies.

Realmuto is a great addition for the Phillies. How could anyone be a fan of the Marlins? They’ve had a shitty owner since Huizenga sold them, and what do they get when Loria finally cashed out? A shitty owner. What is the point of that team’s continued existence? Why would anyone spend 50 cents to see them live? All they do is produce talent for other teams. Just relegate them to Triple A and be done with them.

The days of Miguel Cabrera and Josh Beckett are long gone.

Just relegate them to Triple A and be done with them. You stick with a team. You can't imagine how many people said to me "How the fuck can you root for the Bills?" Damn, I heard that from people about the Red Sox before 2004. I don't know why "X" is a Marlin fan,is he from south Florida?. I agree that ownership hasn't been all that. Every time they win something, they gut the team. The Stanton trade had to be done. Just a matter of finding the team that would eat most of the contract. Dumb deal for a "small market" team. This one I don't get. Making 5.9 million this year (a steal) and not due to hit FA until 2021. And a veteran catcher is just the type of player you want on a rebuilding team.
Is baseball a tough sell in Florida? Historically it has been. The state never even had a long lived AAA team. They have the Florida State League because the facilities are owned by the parent club, for the most part. Only broke 2 million in attendance three time, first season, the WS year of 1997 and 2012. Tampa Bay would have went under long ago if not for the big crowds they draw for the Red Sox and Yankees (most fans rooting for the road team).

Harper is the one that likes Realmuto, and the only ethnicity Machado cares about is cash.
