Well since Stallone just dropped out of this one do you think it will get made? I for one do not plan on watching it without him and I have a feeling that most of the main cast will do it without him. I mean I liked the first 2 but 3 was very bad the PG13 killed it and those dam new kids were just annoying. I was looking forward to them redeeming themselves with a fourth one that is Hard R with lots of cursing and blood. As well as the addition of Jackie Chan and whoever they cast as the villain. Thoughts??

I am a fan of the three films they have made, even the 3rd which was a turd i comparison to the 2nd one especially. I guess a guilty pleasure?
As for its future it needs to die. Without Stallone there is no way to go forward, he redeemed the third movie to a degree (and Mel Gibson).
On the other hand if they rebooted it with Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson as the lead it could make serious bank, and might turn out to be fun.

I think Stallone and Lerner should make amends or nothing.

I agree, I was just saying if they want to go forward with lots of profit he'd be the ideal choice.

Resurrect Mel Gibson's character. Give him Stallone's role.

Resurrect Mel Gibson's character. Give him Stallone's role. Gibson isn't box office gold again just yet, even his acclaimed Hacksaw Ridge didn't do overwhelming numbers at the B/O. To be honest I'd say he's still box office poison until further notice also I'll probably get in a disagreement but someone over this but Gibson isn't like Stallone, Arnold, or Bruce Willis meaning a large percentage of those three had mainly action movies ONLY after they were labeled as "action star". Some actors just never got that label like Gibson,Ford, Cruise. Instead they did a little bit of everything (sure one could argue that the three I mentioned did to, but not as much). Anyway I think the only way I'd watch an Expendable movie again is if The Rock or Tom Cruise helmed the future 4th film.

If Stallone is not in it and it still gets made, it will be straight to video.

What would be cool is if it was given more solid development with an interesting backstory.

What would be cool is if it was given more solid development with an interesting backstory. I dunno, John Wick which in my opinion is the best action film of the last decade had the most basic back story I can't help but to think if they went into a lot of detail about him upfront it might not of been as good. Now with the second chapter they added to the character (which was fine) but not enough to distract from the action and above all it didn't distract from the basics. Mad Max Fury Road was similar, big set pieces with little back story for the new characters, I think it works better that way for action films.

Likewise for The Raid (that is way better imo than John Wick). The first one was pretty basic with great action and the second one improved on characters, story and also action

I don't really care. If they make it with Sly, fine. If they make it without Sly, fine. If they don't make it at all, fine.

Because PG-13 action movies are an absolute No-Go. I've a message from Jason Bourne, Ethan Hunt, Bryan Mills, and the cast of Fast&Furious:

Because PG-13 action movies are an absolute No-Go. PG-13 and R rated action films can be equal. Watch the Bond franchise, Mission:Impossible, Bourne, and a dozen others that have been PG-13 for a LONG time and are just as good as Fury Road, John Wick 1+2,etc. Why not enjoy them all?

Sorry. I can't take action movies serious, where people gets stabbed, shot or beaten to death, without any injuries.

Would rather see a modernized remake of The Wild Geese (1978) starring Daniel Craig, Pierce Brosnan and Timothy Dalton.

I somehow doubt they'll end up making it without Sly. More likely they will take the script (if there was one), slap a new title on it, recast all the roles, tweak a few things, film, and release. A lot of the actors in it, at some point or another, said they were doing this because it was fun and Sly invited/asked them to join, so without him there are probably a couple of the other actors who can pass and do something else instead. Sly's got a few other things lined up and doesn't appear to mind sharing the screen with his buddies from the EXPENDABLES universe.
Personally, if they did make one without him, I would not have any real interest in watching. He, Banderas, Ford, and Dolph were the big draw for me. And from what I hear, Dolph has said he won't do it without Sly, so then it is down to A.B. and H.F., neither of whom have confirmed they would return either. And Barney Ross is what holds the universe/team together, making a movie without him a far cry less interesting. At least to me. *shrug* I'd rather just go watch whatever Sly, Dolph, H. Ford, and A.B. are doing outside of the EXPENDABLES movies.
