Love watching Bumgarner, he's an amazing pitcher and a good hitter to boot. He's throwing a perfect game right now.

Soon as I post, Bumgarner has a meltdown and the game is tied now. A.J. Pollock with a HR, this guy is an underrated player, he was injured most of last year but the year before he had 20 HR's, a 315 average and over 30 stolen bases.

Holy shit, this game is bizarre!! I have to say, this may be the first time I've seen the roof open at Chase Field in a day game, usually it is way too hot for that.

Home plate ump is in preseason form. Wildly inconsistent strike zone, calling strikes way off the plate and usually not strikes at the bottom of the zone.

Melancon was brought in to be a reliable, top tier closer and shore up the Giants pen situation which caused them numerous problems, and Melancon starts off his Giants career by blowing a save. Not good. The Giants bullpen cost them last year, and this year they are without Will Smith and they really need Melancon to be efficient. Hopefully for them he will have another excellent year.

Exactly the type of guy I wanted the Mets to try to nab before they got Cespedes. If he's healthy, he should put up a big year.

Yeah I like Pollock as well, he's one of the most underrated outfielders IMO. D-Backs have a great outfield, Pollock, Peralta and Tomas are all very good players. Watch out for the D-Backs, injuries derailed them last year, if they are healthy they are playoff contenders.

Watch out for the D-Backs, injuries derailed them last year, if they are healthy they are playoff contenders. I dunno, they were 69-93 last year. Their offense should still be a top-5 unit in the NL, especially with superstud Goldschmidt returning to form, but their pitching staff is just dreadful. Greinke should be better this year, but he'll never be the guy they really need him to be. After him is just question mark after question mark. Taijuan Walker isn't particularly good, Robbie Ray is a flamethrower who strikes out a ton of guys but who has piss-poor command and Patrick Corbin is a guy who just can't seem to put it together. The wild-card for me is Shelby Miller. His velocity was back up in the spring after a terrible 2016. If he can find a groove and give them a reliable second starter that they can depend on for innings, it will be an enormous boost. It'll be nearly impossible for them to compete with the Giants and Dodgers, and the Rockies should be better this year too. If they manage to win 79 games this year, I think that would be an incredible feat, but that's a huge jump for a team that really didn't materially improve in any area.

Yeah, I'm noe expecting much out of the Snakes either. Walker could turn things around with a new address. But I think Shelby Miller's better days are behind him and there's too much pressure on Greinke. That trade will hang over his head for the whole time he's in the desert and he doesn't deal with pressure. Tough division. Giants and Dodgers are tough and I'm still thinking the Rockies will be good. It could be an epic bad year for the Padres. There are some good young players there, Wil Myers, Hunter Renfroe, Manuel Margot. Not Enough to keep then from at least 105 losses.

I think you guys are being a little bit harsh on the D-Backs. They went 69-93 last year because of all their injuries. Pollock and Peralta are huge for the team and they barely played last year. Greinke will have a better year this year, and I expect them to get a better performance from their starting pitchers, the addition of Fernando Rodney is good as well for the D-Backs IMO. I don't think they will make the playoffs but they can contend and expect them t get to about 500.
The Padres will have an epically terrible year, they have nothing and they are in a tough division. 110 losses I predict.
