Originally, I didn't think Endgame could ever match the hype for IW. After all, IW had the first look at Thanos and first time ever that such a big cast of superheroes came on screen. I felt that Endgame just couldn't match the novelty of it. These last few months however, after Marvel ramped up the marketing, the hype for Endgame skyrocketed. I don't think I've ever seen so much hype for a movie before. We're you around for '89 Batman? I was 12 I think maybe 13. The hoopla was massive. There is probably more around EG now, but more people are into comicbook movies now. The cultural penetration that '89 Batman had was amazing to watch. Seems like everyone and their Grandma had seen/talked about it.

I do know trailers and TV spots weren't quite as easily accessible. We only had 2 theaters in my city so we only had 2 movies that we could watch. We watched whatever the hell was showing

One of the kids at my school had the Bat Symbol shaved on the back of his head. Weird times.

In my time prior to the internet wave, The Phantom Menace was probably the most hyped up movie ever.
Since then there's been a few, Revenge of the Sith, X-Men 3, Spider-man 3, The Dark Knight, Deathly Hallows 2, The Avengers, Age of Ultron and Batman and Superman are up there as well.
But I'd say probably more than anything The Force Awakens has definitely been the most hyped up movie that I know of. More so than Infinity War and Endgame, that had a ridiculous amount of hype that I can't see being surpassed.

I remember about a year before The Phantom Menace came out one of my D&D buddies said it was going to bring back the Blockbuster. I was still in college and he had graduated maybe 4 years prior. He would come back and play D&D every week. He liked to think himself older than us kids. (when he was only 4 years older) He said things like you guys are to young to remember why it's called a Blockbuster. Literally everyone lined up around the block to get in. The way Phantom Menace is being hyped you'll see. Then it came out and did great, but I think he forgot how many more damn movie theaters and showings there were in the 90's vs the 70's.
