I love the Alien films (even the fourth one was ok) and like the first two Predator films (I think the second was underrated). I watched the clip of the tobagan scene from AvP and thought it was very cringey, so I don't have much desire to watch them.

The first one is pretty fun. I don’t think it’s as bad as people say.
The second one was pretty dire. You can skip that one.

Neither were very good but effort was actually put in to the first one and it has a few good scenes here and there like the fight between the two.
The second one was pure trash.

Disappointing. I had the comics in the 80s and I HATED the comics story (instead of doing the obvious-having the aliens and predators meet for the first time, they make the aliens prisoners of the predators which was just lame-and then made a predator into a good guy which was even lamer--the movie followed this--if there was ever a time not to be faithful to a comic it was that). But the movies were bad. The second one had some unintentional humor and unexpected horrifying moments like the maternity ward scene.

Oddly enough at one point there was an animated kids show based on "Aliens" planned, but I guess the idea was too violent for Saturday morning cartoons so it was canned. Kenner ever made some toys for the planned show (I owned a few):

The first one is a moderately entertaining - if predictably silly - comic book-style action movie. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it, but it serves to pass the time.
The sequel is impossible to even see due to the atrocious lighting throughout the movie. Easily the worst lit film I've ever encountered. Avoid at all costs.

I've never seen the AvP filmsI love the Alien films (even the fourth one was ok) and like the first two Predator films (I think the second was underrated). I watched the clip of the tobagan scene from AvP and thought it was very cringey, so I don't have much desire to watch them. So what's your point? What are you hoping to gain with creating this discussion? If you don't want to watch the films, there is nothing wrong with that. If you do want to watch the films, there is nothing wrong with that, either. If you are looking for our opinion, about what we think about the AvP films, I am sure you will get varied answers. Personally, I enjoyed the FIRST AvP film.... The history of the characters and the location setting of the film, was unique to the franchise, and, In My Opinion, it is worth watching the film. I felt Requiem, was a very pointless film in the franchise. It seems like a typical slasher film, with Aliens & Predators being used as "drop in" replacement characters... While that isn't so bad... There really wasn't anything new to see here... It's just not worth the effort to track the film down in order to watch it... If you have a chance to watch it with someone who is going to watch it anyway, and you don't have to pay for it, then you should go ahead and see it...

I watched the clip of the tobagan scene from AvP and thought it was very cringey, so I don't have much desire to watch them. I like them myself. That's not to say I think they're good, I just enjoy the silliness. The first AvP movie can be frustrating because with some tweaks, there's the germ of a good movie there. They really needed to send the script back to the writers a time or two - there are logic and timeline issues that cripple the movie. But there's some good stuff too. The second one suffers from the cinematography. It's just too damn dark! You can hardly see what's going on in large parts of the movie. It's also got a weirdly mean attitude towards children, but I gotta say I'm okay with that. And I do like the idea of the Predator-Xenomorph, even if you can't really see it. I'd say it's worth giving both movies a watch, if you go in with a fairly low bar. Of course I can see why you wouldn't want to bother.
