Doctor Strange said he saw all 14 million possible scenarios and there was only 1 scenario in which the Avengers win and Thanos loses. So if Doctor Strange can see all 14 million possible scenarios, then Thanos (now that he has all 6 stones) can also see all 14 million possible scenarios and thus Thanos can see the only 1 scenario in which the Avengers win and he loses so Thanos can change things to make sure that scenario never happens and thus Thanos should never lose.
So either Thanos is too dumb to do that (which would make Thanos a really awful villain) or Kevin Feige and/or the Russos were too dumb to think about that and realize that there should be no way that Thanos loses now that Thanos should know all the possible scenarios and can change the only 1 scenario in which the Avengers win and he loses.

Dr. Strange said he saw 14,000,605 possible outcomes. Of those 14M+ possibilities, he only saw one where the Avengers prevailed over Thanos. He did not say he saw ALL of the possible results. Theoretically, there are an infinite number of possibilities - some in which Thanos wins, the Avengers win or any number of other outcomes in which neither side wins.
Strange did not have enough time to see ALL of the possible outcomes. Of the number Strange did see, there was only one in which Thanos was defeated. Even if Thanos were skilled enough to use the Eye as Strange did, he still would have to find the exact outcome that Strange was referring to.
Dr. Strange read an entire book on how to use the Eye of Agamotto. Thanos did not. The stones don't provide you with the knowledge of how to use them except in the most primitive way.
So if Thanos wants to get ahead of the good Doctor, he's going to have to crack the books.

As far as Thanos is concerned, he's already won. Why would he need to go forward in time to view possible outcomes if he's already won?

Thanos is known to get arrogant and could lazily make a subconscious mistake. Wish IW would have hinted at this.

What's the point? Well several things:
1. To wrap up what is supposedly the end of the original Avengers run.
2. The avengers will have to undo what Thanos did.
3. And this is the most important thing about the film, to make lots and lots and lots of money.
So you, the same reason why all these comic book movies exist.
