Sport with the highest level of endurance... RAAM (Race Across America)... About 3,000 miles coast to coast, non stop on a bike. It's about the same length as the Tour de France... but the TDF is a daily stage race... RAAM, the clock starts, and it's first across the finish. Up to you if and when you rest/sleep. How come we never hear of this one? Is it even broadcast anywhere?

Basketball in theory, running back and forth up and down the court every play. But there’s so many stoppages for fouls, time outs, and TV breaks that maybe they don’t need all that much endurance. I wonder what the average distance a starting hoops player covers in each game.

is 'marathon runner' too easy? isn't running considered a sport in todays world? - or a competition? Yeah, I was thinking of marathon runners to. As well as triathletes.

You've clearly never time trialled, or road raced. Sports use balls (or pucks). That’s why cycling, track, nascar / Indy car things aren’t sports - no balls. Otherwise they’re just activities or exercises. So all those events in Winter Olympics, except hockey, are just activities to you? Same thing for the Summer one that doesn't have a ball?

Fuck yeah! Love that movie. Love that scene. What about Pro Wrestling - i.e. 1 hour 'Iron Man Matches' - i.e. Bret Hart vs. HBK?

No American sport would qualify because of all the stopping and starting. Even Hockey they may skate around for what 12 minutes at a time at most? In AFL mid fielders cover 12-15 ks per game rarely doing less than a jog. Rugby, soccer and gaelic sports is continuous running back and forth over 100 metres. Cycling and distance running also. For sheer time on the field test cricket deserves a mention.
I enjoy American sports, but they don't require endurance to the extent of most sports globally because there's less actual playing time in general and more breaks.
