This was one of Roger Deakins's best works. The color palette of orange and blue was astounding.

Yeah, you can just tell it stands above the vast majority of movies visually.
it's also a good counter for those people obsessed with film and claim digital is crap etc as this proves them wrong as digital ain't like it was back around the early-to-mid 2000's as something like Collateral (2004) you can tell it's a bit so-so visually but not with Skyfall (2012) as there are no flaws with that as it looks top notch. but basically by around the late 2000's, to early 2010's tops, that claim that film is better than digital I don't think no longer holds up overall.
p.s. for the record... Skyfall (2012) is within my Top 20 movies straight up.

While not the better movie, I thought Spectre was the better looking film I remember really liking the ongoing opening shot in Mexico.

I thought Skyfall had some great cinematography and editing. Particularly in the sniper fight. I wouldn't call it a masterpiece but it's pretty damn good and a lot of it is very impressive on a visual level.
It's odd that the film has gotten a lot of criticism after the fact. It's a well-made film. I suppose it has more to do with the interpretation of Bond.
